Over 200 track cyclists will compete in the Thailand Track Cycling Championship's second round May 1-3 at Bangkok's Huamark Velodrome, with organizers using the event to identify young talent for the national team and upcoming 2026 Youth Ol
The second round of the Thailand Track Cycling Championship will take place May 1-3 with an exciting atmosphere as over 200 cyclists from member clubs across the country compete for the title. General Decha Hemkrasri, chairman of the Cycling Association, revealed that the association will conduct the track cycling championship round 2 from May 1-3 at the Velodrome stadium within the Thai National Sports Authority (TNSA) in Huamark, with over 200 cyclists from member clubs participating. The championship runs five rounds annually to develop new young cycling talent and prepare athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, which may include track cycling events. Member clubs send numerous athletes to accumulate annual points, with the highest-scoring athletes receiving royal trophies. This serves as an important talent search to identify new athletes for the national team to replace retiring senior athletes.
General Decha noted that the road cycling championship, with four completed rounds, has produced promising young and junior cyclists with outstanding performances. These athletes can participate in middle-distance track cycling events such as scratch races, omnium, points race, and pursuit. The coaching staff has identified exceptional talent that the association aims to develop into national team cyclists.
General Decha stated that the association is advancing athlete development across all levels according to strategic personnel development plans, calling on member clubs to jointly develop young talent. The goal is to elevate these cyclists to become important contributors to Thailand's national cycling team in the future, for both short and middle-distance categories—particularly short-distance, where finding talented athletes is challenging due to the need for high-intensity muscle power. The second round will also serve as a testing ground for youth cyclists competing in the 41st National Youth Games "Surat Thani Games" in Surat Thani Province from May 7-17.
The opening ceremony on May 1 will be presided over by General Decha Hemkrasri, with association board members in attendance. The event will be livestreamed on Facebook (Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel) and YouTube (TCA Channel) throughout all three days. May 1's program includes 15 gold medal events, beginning at 7:30 AM.
