Thai Airways Suspends Flight Attendant Over Heroin Smuggling

4h ago Khaosod

Thai Airways stated that a flight attendant arrested by Australian police with heroin has clearly violated company discipline. The airline's HR director, Janthrika Chotiksathian, clarified the company's internal procedures, disciplinary measures, personnel screening and training protocols. She emphasized that this was an individual act and does not reflect on the airline's safety standards.

The attendant, who began working for Thai Airways in 2566-2567, earned a base salary of 15,000-20,000 baht monthly, with total monthly income averaging 50,000-60,000 baht including flight pay and other compensation.

When disciplinary cases arise, the airline suspends the employee and forms an investigation committee, allowing the employee to clarify their position. Thai Airways stated it does not tolerate any disciplinary violations and has strict rules prohibiting pilots and crew from accepting items for transport, or misusing their company position for personal gain.

Chotiksathian emphasized that the incident must be separated from aviation safety concerns, as it reflects individual behavior, not systemic problems. She confirmed the airline maintains strict 3S standards—Service, Safety and Security—and that the company president has ordered a comprehensive review of all organizational rules and measures to identify and address any potential vulnerabilities. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to operational excellence and safety standards.

Apartment Owner Seeks Justice in Burmese Worker's Drowning Death

A Burmese worker died from electrical electrocution in a canal near Chachoengsao on June 28 after accidentally dropping a live power cable into water, contradicting a witness's false claim that he drowned while drunk.

4h ago Khaosod

A Thai apartment owner is demanding justice for 30-year-old Burmese national Miao Lin Lu, who drowned in a canal near Wat Sotsorn School sports facility in Chachoengsao province's Muang district on the morning of June 28. A woman named Kik King So, 30, a fellow Burmese worker who knew the deceased from construction work together, initially told police that he drowned while drunk after days of heavy drinking and refusing to sleep.

When the deceased's body was discovered floating in the canal the next morning, rescue efforts were attempted, but he was already dead. However, apartment owner Ms. Sara, 48, reviewed CCTV footage and discovered a completely different account of events. According to the video, the deceased was the first to arrive at work that morning. Before his death, concrete had been poured along the canal embankment. The CCTV shows the worker connected a power cable to an angle grinder and lowered it into the water to sharpen steel frames. While grinding, he accidentally dragged the power cable, causing the outlet to fall into the canal. The electrical short circuit electrocuted Miao Lin Lu. The witness's husband immediately unplugged the device and jumped into the water to help, witnessing the entire incident.

Ms. Sara expressed dismay that Kik King So's testimony to police was completely false and contradicted the factual evidence. She questioned why a fellow countryman would provide such inaccurate information and has now shared the CCTV footage with police to establish the truth. She has also invited a monk to perform a merit-making ceremony for the deceased's spirit, which departed three days ago.

Twenty Soldiers Injured In Multi-Vehicle Pileup

A military convoy returning to base in Chonburi was involved in a multi-vehicle pileup on Sukhumvit Road in Rayong during heavy rain, leaving 20 soldiers with minor injuries. All personnel were transported to hospital in stable condition.

4h ago Khaosod

Twenty soldiers were injured when a naval artillery transport truck overturned and was struck repeatedly on Sukhumvit Road. All personnel are reported to be in stable condition.

At approximately 2 p.m. on July 1, 2026, police from Kaeng Station in Rayong, along with rescue units from the Buddhist Charitable Association in Kaeng District, responded to the accident near Khao Din Market in Thung Khwai Kin Sub-district, Kaeng District.

Investigators determined that a three-vehicle convoy from the Naval Artillery Corps—consisting of two 10-wheel trucks and one bus—was returning to their base in Sattahip, Chonburi, after completing operations with the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Protection Command. When the convoy reached the accident scene during heavy rainfall, the lead truck lost control, struck a street light pole on the road median, and overturned, injuring three soldiers aboard. At that moment, a six-wheel cargo truck stopped to assist the injured soldiers. However, another military truck following behind lost its brakes and struck the rear of the cargo truck, also hitting a civilian pickup truck passing through the area. This secondary collision resulted in an additional 17 soldiers being injured.

Rescue personnel immediately transported all 20 injured soldiers to Kaeng Hospital. Doctors reported that all injuries were minor and all personnel were in stable condition. The civilian pickup truck driver sustained only minor damage and did not remain at the scene. Police will conduct a detailed investigation into the actual cause of the accident and proceed with legal action accordingly.

GGC Expands Biodiesel into Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Global Green Chemical is expanding its biodiesel technology into sustainable aviation fuel while developing high-value bioproducts to support energy transition goals. The company plans to leverage Thailand's palm oil resources and partner a

4h ago Khaosod

Global Green Chemical Public Company Limited (GGC) is upgrading its business toward sustainable growth by leveraging biodiesel (B100) technology to develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), while expanding its high-value bioproduct portfolio to enhance competitiveness and support global energy transition and demand for low-carbon products.

Kritsada Prasertsukhote, GGC's managing director, stated that amid global economic shifts, energy transition, and tightening environmental regulations, GGC is balancing growth and sustainability through three core strategies: strengthening core business, expanding growth through bio-based and high-value products, and integrating sustainability across all business operations to ensure long-term stable growth.

A key strategic direction for GGC is advancing biodiesel (B100) capabilities toward sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development, elevating bioproducts to high-value products that address energy transition goals and aviation's greenhouse gas reduction targets—an industry gaining global importance with continuous growth potential.

Realizing this requires strong foundations in raw materials, technology, policy, and cooperation among government, industry, and ASEAN nations to develop a sustainable SAF ecosystem. GGC is committed to partnering with all sectors domestically and regionally to drive innovation and policy mechanisms supporting sustainable aviation fuel adoption, while building integrated supply chains from upstream to downstream to serve future aviation industry needs.

Thailand and the ASEAN region possess substantial biomass potential, particularly palm oil, which can be developed into SAF to serve regional airlines, reduce aviation emissions, enhance energy security, and increase long-term value from national biological resources. For GGC, developing B100 into SAF represents more than product extension—it elevates Thailand's palm oil industry value chain toward internationally competitive, high-value clean energy.

Simultaneously, GGC is expanding its high-value bioproduct portfolio from existing businesses including biodiesel, fatty alcohols, and glycerin into products for future industries across four main categories: food and feed, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceuticals, and industrial applications such as bio-lubricants and bio-solvents—all high-value products addressing market needs.

Thai Airline Worker Faces Heroin Trafficking Charges in Australia

A Thai airline employee arrested at Melbourne Airport on June 25 with 1 kilogram of heroin has agreed to cooperate with authorities investigating a trafficking network supplying recipients in Australia.

4h ago Khaosod

Police have identified a network of recipients waiting in Australia to receive heroin from a Thai airline employee. A full search and investigation into the trafficking network operating in Thailand will begin within two days. The airline employee has indicated a willingness to cooperate. At 2:00 PM on July 1, 2025, at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau headquarters in Din Daeng, an inter-agency information-sharing meeting was held. Representatives from the NSB Drug Suppression Division, Australian Federal Police (AFP) including senior officer Christie-Lee Cressey and liaison officer Brandon Bassford, and the Australian Border Force (ABF) including advisor James Ryan and senior project manager Banpot Denmetharat attended the session. The meeting focused on developments in the case of 26-year-old Thai national Ms. Meena, who was arrested at Melbourne Airport on June 25, 2025, with 1 kilogram of heroin concealed in her luggage. Ms. Meena is currently in Australian custody and is scheduled to appear in Melbourne County Court on September 14, 2025. The meeting examined key details from Ms. Meena's interrogation, including the identity of the intended recipient, the location of the planned handover, and circumstances prior to her arrest. The discussion also covered previous narcotics cases, noting that Thailand frequently serves as a transit point for drugs destined for third countries, particularly Australia. Both agencies discussed strengthened security measures and strategies to intercept drug trafficking between Thailand and Australia. AFP representatives brought black case files marked "AFP," and ABF officials wore jackets identifying the Australian Border Force—the equivalent of Thailand's customs, immigration, and border security combined, operating under Australia's Department of Home Affairs. ABF conducts immigration control by verifying travelers' documents and customs inspections of luggage and prohibited items. At 3:30 PM, NSB Secretary-General Suriyan Singhakmol revealed that the one-hour meeting with AFP and ABF officials occurred under the joint special operations program "Taskforce Storm," established since 2016. He explained that today's discussion was an information exchange regarding the investigation from Ms. Meena's arrest, and a progress update from both sides to understand the origins and source of the trafficking network. Both agencies have compiled all available information, though some details remain reserved, as both nations are committed to fully resolving this matter that has troubled both Thailand and Australia.

Thai Military Shows ASEAN Observers Border Fence With Cambodia

Thai military invited ASEAN observers to inspect a border fence under construction with Cambodia in Chanthaburi Province, asserting the project is over 45% complete and fully compliant with international law.

5h ago Khaosod

The Thai military took observers from three ASEAN countries to inspect the Thailand-Cambodia border fence, asserting that all operations are transparent and comply with international law. On July 1, Air Vice Marshal Chitpol Kogkitsummakal, director of the International Relations Office under the Thai military's public affairs department, led a nine-member team of ASEAN observers stationed in Thailand—representing Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines—to Chanthaburi Province to assess the security situation along the Thailand-Cambodia border. Rear Admiral Udom Kulsiripunyo, commander of border defense for Chanthaburi and Trat provinces, received the delegation.

During the visit, the observers inspected progress on the "Border Security Fence" construction project in boundary markers 52-59 in Po Tha Ron District, which is now over 45% complete. The project aims to enhance safety and improve border area management under a partnership with the Chulalongkorn University Foundation through the Hathai Thip Fund.

Regarding concerns about a "gap" in the wall at boundary marker 52, the naval engineering task force clarified that this is a standard engineering construction step left for future improvements as determined by the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Border Commission (JBC). Removable panels will be installed in the future to facilitate joint border inspections between the two countries.

The military confirmed that all operations proceed transparently in accordance with international law and have received full cooperation from Cambodia's side at every stage.

Thai Queen Dazzles Paris in Thai Silk Fashion

Queen Suthida showcased Thai silk elegance during the royal family's Paris visit, wearing two bespoke ensembles by Meshmuseum featuring premium handcrafted textiles and traditional motifs while attending cultural events and exhibitions.

5h ago Khaosod

During the Thai royal family's visit to Paris on Tuesday, Queen Suthida displayed remarkable elegance wearing two ensembles crafted from Thai silk. King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Queen Suthida, and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya laid a wreath at the Arc de Triomphe to honor the Unknown Soldier, then toured Paris City Hall and the Seine riverbanks.

The Queen first wore a dark olive-green Thai silk ensemble by Meshmuseum, made from Luk Tho silk, a premium handcrafted textile distinguished by its soft texture and natural surface knots. The outfit featured a long-sleeved, high-neck jacket with silver-set black spinel buttons paired with a matching A-line skirt, accessorized with a Cattleya orchid brooch, diamond-and-black-spinel earrings, and a silver clutch set with a cabochon sapphire.

Later, the royal party visited the exhibition "La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity" at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, where the Queen changed into a gold-brocaded silk coat dress also by Meshmuseum. Inspired by the Himmapan Forest from Thai cultural heritage, the fitted coat dress featured intricate sequin embroidery and gold buttons, worn over a matching gold-brocade silk dress and completed with garnet earrings and a Thai Yan Lipao basketry handbag decorated with garnets in the traditional Pra Jum Yam radial star-flower motif.

The Queen's appearances once again highlighted Thailand's exceptional textile craftsmanship on the international stage, elegantly blending traditional motifs with contemporary style against the backdrop of Paris.

Thai shrimp exports are set to resume as Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit revealed that Malaysia will lift its import ban within 30 days. The discussion also covered Thai exports of beef and pork products to Malaysia, with Malaysian officials pledging to expedite approval of those products as well.

"The reason Malaysia imposed the shrimp ban is due to new import and export standards for agricultural products they recently implemented," Suriya explained. "However, following this meeting, we are confident that Thailand will be able to export shrimp to Malaysia normally again."
