Shocking! 'Crystal Clear Fried Chicken' Looks Like Glass—the Viral Creation of a Chinese Food Blogger

30 Apr Khaosod

A Chinese food blogger named Chai Nan has gained widespread recognition for his unconventional cooking style and imaginative menu creations using molecular gastronomy techniques applied to food, resulting in remarkable and eye-catching dishes that have taken the online world by storm.

His latest viral sensation is "transparent fried chicken"—a dish with a glass-like, crystal appearance so striking that many viewers see it as artwork rather than ordinary food. This innovation quickly captured global attention.

Last month, Chai Nan uploaded a video to YouTube titled "I Wanted to Make Transparent Fried Chicken, But the Results Got Really Strange," which instantly went viral, garnering nearly a million views on the platform.

The concept of making "transparent" fried chicken sounds impossible, yet the actual result amazed countless viewers, appearing almost like tangible magic. Chai Nan provided detailed explanations of his creative process, starting by deconstructing the fried chicken piece by piece—from the skeletal structure to the meat—to rebuild the entire food structure from scratch.

For the bones, he used a mixture of bone marrow, collagen, and aspic gel, shaped in a mold resembling chicken bones and allowed to set into a firm, transparent structure. For the chicken meat, he processed it into a water-like liquid before using a technique called "spherification" to reconstruct the muscle fiber structure—a popular technique in molecular gastronomy.

Finally, he assembled the glass-like meat and bone pieces back together in a mold, creating the "transparent fried chicken" that is both striking and mesmerizing, becoming a much-discussed culinary artwork in the social media world.

Rinnai Redefines 'Heat' as a New Home Experience, Driving Smart Kitchen Innovation

Japanese appliance maker Rinnai is repositioning heat as an emotional home experience rather than mere functionality, launching smart kitchen innovations with safety-focused technology at Thailand's Architect69 event.

30 Apr Khaosod

While 'heat' in household appliances is traditionally viewed as a basic function for cooking or hot water, Rinnai—a leading Japanese brand—is reframing this concept through the 'Heat is Home' philosophy, transforming energy into an emotional experience of home living.

At Architect69 event, Sompon Preechawuttinant, General Manager of Rinnai Thailand, explained: "We see heat as more than just energy produced by appliances. We focus on the end result—how heat can improve quality of life. This is the foundation of our 'Heat is Home' concept, which we want to communicate to consumers."

Drawing from over 100 years of brand history, Rinnai's leadership emphasized that consumers don't simply want products, but desire "improved quality of life." Heat represents the beginning of valuable moments at home—whether faster meal preparation bringing families together or truly relaxing baths.

In the modern home context, kitchens are shifting from purely functional spaces to areas reflecting residents' identity and lifestyle. Rinnai prioritizes developing technology that not only works but "truly understands users," with safety as the core focus through the Si Sensor system, which automatically controls temperature and cuts gas in risky situations.

"Safety is always our priority. Si Sensor technology was designed to reduce usage risks, giving users confidence every time they enter the kitchen," Sompon stated.

As a global brand with production and distribution networks across dozens of countries, Rinnai leverages consumer behavior insights from different regions to create location-specific innovations. The company adapted Japan's Ultra Fine Bubbles technology for Thai products to enhance cleaning and hygiene efficiency, exemplifying a "Global Insight, Local Fit" approach.

"We learn from consumers worldwide, then adapt for each country's context. For Thailand, we select technologies that address real usage needs and genuinely elevate user experience," he said.

At Architect69, Rinnai presented products clearly reflecting the brand's DNA—safety, user-friendly operation, and excellent user experience—positioning gas stoves as more than cooking equipment.

"We want consumers to see that a gas stove or kitchen appliance can truly make life easier and safer. It's not just functional—it should feel good to use," Sompon emphasized.

Meanwhile, Thailand's Smart Kitchen trend continues growing with IoT technology connecting appliances to smartphones. However, Rinnai believes true 'smartness' must be practical.

"For us, Smart Kitchen isn't just connectivity—it must reduce cooking steps and complications. We're developing technology for automatic cooking control, making it easier for younger generations to cook."

The company plans to introduce innovative technologies addressing future consumer needs.

Phatthalung police accused of deceiving mentally ill man during Hi-Lo gamblingLegacyParents accused a police officer in Phatthalung of deceiving their mentally ill son into gambling, leading to the loss of 120,000 baht. The parents, 46 year old Yupaporn and 53 year old Thanasak, sought help from a local journalist, claiming their 20 year old son Peerasak was targeted by a police senior sergeant major identified as Suea, who serves under Provincial Police Region 9. According to the family, the officer contacted their son and persuaded him to join a Hi-Lo gambling session on the night of April 28. The son reportedly lost within 15 minutes, handing over a gold necklace and cash with a combined value of 120,000 baht. The parents said their son has a mental condition that affects his judgement, making him more vulnerable to persuasion. They believe the officer was aware of this and exploited it. Photo via Amarin TV They also alleged that the officer hosts gambling activities at his residence regularly and that their son had previously lost money there. Fearing possible influence over a local investigation, the couple initially approached a journalist instead of filing directly with police. The journalist later accompanied them to lodge a complaint at Mueang Phatthalung Police Station, drawing attention from locals. In an interview with Channel 7 after filing the complaint, Yupaporn said the accused officer contacted her and offered to return the money and valuables if she withdrew the case. She declined the offer. Channel 7 reported an attempt to contact the accused officer to her his account, but it was unsuccessful. Photo via Amarin TV Royal Thai Police (RTP) deputy spokesperson Chaipajon Suwannarak said a full investigation would be conducted as soon as possible. He stated that legal action would proceed without favour if wrongdoing is confirmed. In a separate case reported last October, a former RTP commissioner and 200 other police officers were found to accepted bribes from gambling websites. The case was reportedly under investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, but updates on the investigation have not been made public. Indian Billionaire's Son Offers to Care for 80 Hippos for Life After Colombia Plans to Cull Them

Indian billionaire heir Anand Ambani has offered to relocate 80 hippopotamuses from Colombia to his wildlife sanctuary in India to prevent the government from culling the invasive species, whose population has exploded since the 1980s.

30 Apr Khaosod

Indian billionaire heir Anand Ambani has proposed adopting 80 hippopotamuses to prevent Colombia's government from culling the animals due to their rapidly growing population and environmental impact.

According to CNN on April 30, Ambani made the offer to avoid the Colombian government's plan to eliminate the hippos, which have multiplied rapidly and are damaging the local ecosystem. The hippo population was originally introduced to Colombia in the 1980s and lives in areas around the former Escobar ranch at Hacienda Nápoles, now a tourist destination. The population has grown to approximately 160 animals, with projections potentially reaching 500 by 2030 without intervention.

Ambani proposed relocating 80 hippos to a wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat, India, a project he founded and operates caring for more than 150,000 animals from over 2,000 species.

Sanctuary officials stated they are prepared to provide appropriate and safe environments for the hippos to ensure good quality of life, and confirmed they would strictly adhere to legal requirements, permits, and biosecurity measures if approved by the Colombian government.

Ambani expressed through social media: "These hippos didn't choose to be born, and they shouldn't suffer the consequences of this situation. If we have the capacity to help, we should."

Colombia's environment minister confirmed that culling some hippos is a necessary measure, as the species has been classified as an invasive species since 2022. The ministry stated that uncontrolled hippo population growth threatens native animals like manatees and freshwater turtles in the Magdalena River basin, and failure to act could cause long-term ecosystem damage.

Colombia previously considered alternatives, including relocating hippos to Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, South Africa, and India, but implementation proved difficult due to international legal restrictions and logistical challenges.

Ambani's proposal is currently under consideration, with relevant authorities assessing its feasibility, though the Colombian government has not yet issued an official response.

Sugar Market Faces Oversupply Threat as Indonesia, Top Trading Partner, Cuts Imports

Thailand's sugar industry faces a major market threat as Indonesia, which buys over 27% of Thai sugar exports, shifts policy to reduce imports and boost domestic production starting January 1st. The move could depress prices for Thai farmer

30 Apr Khaosod

April 30, 2026 – Nanthapon Jiralerkpong, director of the Commerce Ministry's Office of Trade Policy and Strategy, warned that Thailand's sugar trade faces mounting challenges, particularly from Indonesia's policy shift to reduce import dependence and prioritize domestic production effective January 1st. Indonesia is crucial to Thailand's sugar exports, accounting for over 27% of the country's total sugar export value at $715 million in 2025, making it essential for Thailand to diversify into new markets. Thailand's cane production for the 2025-2026 season is expected to reach 98 million tons, a 7% increase from the previous year due to favorable rainfall, while last year Thailand exported 5.5 million tons of sugar worth over $2.6 billion, ranking second globally after Brazil. Other key buyers include Cambodia ($397 million), South Korea ($263 million), and the Philippines ($216 million), but losing Indonesia's market could depress domestic sugar cane prices and severely impact farmers' incomes and Thailand's export earnings.

Customer Shocked to Discover Dashcam Cables Disconnected at Service Center; Playback Reveals the Truth Behind Unprofessional Behavior

A Chachoengsao service center staff deliberately disconnected a customer's dashcam cables during an electric vehicle inspection, with footage later revealing unsafe driving practices and unprofessional behavior during test drives.

30 Apr Khaosod

On April 30, 2026, Facebook user Suriya Sudsanit posted about a disappointing experience after bringing his electric vehicle to a service center in Chachoengsao province for a mileage check and to diagnose a noise from the undercarriage. After driving approximately 100 kilometers from the service center, he discovered that both the front dashcam and interior cabin camera had their power cables completely disconnected. Upon learning of the disconnection, he reviewed the security footage and found three concerning incidents:

Incident 1: Staff members deliberately disconnected the customer's cameras while laughing and making comments as if the customer wouldn't find out.

Incident 2: During test drives, technicians failed to wear seatbelts, used mobile phones while driving, and did not properly listen to diagnose the noise problem, initially unable to identify the source.

Incident 3: Staff members used foul language inside the vehicle, including derogatory remarks and unclear references.

The vehicle underwent four test drive rounds total, with the noise issue finally identified during the fourth round when the owner was present. Previously, the customer had shown confidence in the service center, even providing refreshments to the team as they worked. However, after viewing the footage, the customer felt deeply disappointed and requested that the service center management investigate the matter and address the staff's unprofessional conduct.

Chaya Flags Royal Rainmaking Director's Resignation as Significant Issue, Insists Department Is Not a Tool for Distorted Policy

Former Agriculture Minister Chaya Promma has publicly condemned the resignation of Royal Rainmaking Department Director Rachen Silparaya, who cited inability to comply with political directives as his reason for stepping down. Chaya emphasized that the department exists to serve the monarchy and address drought issues, not to be used as a political tool. The remarks underscore ongoing tensions between government agencies and political pressures within Thailand's administrative structure.

30 Apr Khaosod

On April 30, 2025, Chaya Promma, former agriculture and cooperatives minister, posted remarks regarding Rachen Silparaya, director of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department, who submitted his resignation after being transferred to serve as ministry inspector. As someone who previously oversaw this agency, Chaya stated plainly that the Royal Rainmaking Department has no duty to serve policies that deviate from principle. Instead, its mission is to continue the royal initiative to address drought and support farmers nationwide. "Royal rain is the king's rain, and every drop of water is the people's livelihood," Chaya said, emphasizing that this work represents loyalty to the monarchy, not a political tool.

Chaya sent words of encouragement to all civil servants at the Royal Rainmaking Department who continue to uphold what is right and fulfill their duties with a spirit of sacrifice, calling them true servants of the crown working genuinely for the people.

SCG Controls Costs to Weather Crisis, Shows Strong 17% Growth in Adjusted Cash EBITDA

Siam Cement reported 6.223 billion baht in first-quarter profit with adjusted cash EBITDA up 17%, achieving over 4.3 billion baht in cost savings through strict controls amid global economic uncertainty and energy price volatility.

30 Apr Khaosod

Thammasak Setrathum, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), revealed that the company achieved 6.223 billion baht in profit for the first quarter of 2025, with sales revenue of 123.327 billion baht. Adjusted Cash EBITDA—excluding inventory adjustments, impairments, and non-recurring items—reached 14.929 billion baht, a 17% increase.

Amid Middle East tensions driving volatility in energy and raw material prices, which impact the global economy including Thailand and multiple industries, SCG has implemented proactive strategies to absorb and manage the situation. "These measures have achieved cost savings exceeding 4.3 billion baht, while working capital increased by 2.438 billion baht. Capital expenditure was controlled at 5.482 billion baht, reducing net debt by 2.813 billion baht. The net debt-to-EBITDA ratio improved to 5.0 times from 5.5 times. Financial position remains stable with 67.137 billion baht in cash reserves," the company stated.

For the 2025-2026 two-year plan, SCG focuses on building competitive strength through diverse production bases across ASEAN, improving manufacturing efficiency and product quality—projected to reduce costs region-wide by approximately 3.3 billion baht annually. The LSPE project at Long Son Petrochemicals in Vietnam, launching late 2025, will enhance feedstock flexibility and is expected to generate 6 billion baht in annual cost savings.

The company is pushing green products, quality goods at competitive prices, and high-value-added products while pursuing a strategic joint venture in olefins and polyolefins between GC and SCGC, expected to conclude by third quarter 2025. SCG is also advancing its integrated clean energy business to reduce costs and fossil fuel volatility. While closely monitoring global developments, the company remains confident in its strong financial position, adequate cash reserves, and capacity for sustained long-term growth.

Watch Out: Mount Backs Man United to Win Premier League Title Next Season

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount believes the club has the quality and mental strength to win the Premier League title next season, despite being without a league championship for over 13 years.

30 Apr Khaosod

Mason Mount, Manchester United midfielder, believes the "Red Devils" have the quality and mental strength to claim the Premier League title next season. United have gone without a league championship for over 13 years since the Sir Alex Ferguson era. However, this season under Michael Carrick's management, the "Red Devils" have improved significantly, sitting third in the table and needing just one more win from their remaining four games to secure Champions League football next season. Mount recently expressed his belief that United have the potential to win the Premier League next season. "I've already won the UEFA Champions League, so my goal is to win the Premier League. Can we do it? I think we can," Mount stated. "It might seem a bit far away, but you need a strong mentality to push yourselves as a team. We've already shown what we can do against big teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, so we've proven ourselves." He added: "Now the goal is to do it on a bigger stage like the Champions League and be more consistent in the Premier League. I hope to play a significant role in taking us forward next season. That's my goal—I want to win the Premier League." Big Mhong Re-elected for Third Term as Squash Association President with Club Support

Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa won re-election for a third term as Thai Squash Association president and plans to hire a Pakistani coach to strengthen the national team ahead of September's Asian Games in Japan.

30 Apr Khaosod

Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa, known as "Big Mhong," has been re-elected for a third term as president of the Thai Squash Association, Royal Patronage. He is prepared to continue developing youth squash athletes from the regions and will introduce a Pakistani foreign coach to reinforce the national team.

The Thai Squash Association, Royal Patronage, held its 2026 annual general meeting on April 30 at the Fueang Fah Conference Room, Golden Tulip Sofferine Hotel in Bangkok. The key agenda item was electing a new association president following the completion of Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa's second term. The election proceeded smoothly, with Chalitrat being the sole nominee for a third term and receiving unanimous support from club members within minutes.

Chalitrat expressed gratitude to all club members, the committee, staff, and athletes who supported his nomination. He committed to fully executing his duties to advance Thai squash sports. He will continue the existing policy of expanding and developing squash as a grassroots sport among youth to develop more athletes. The association has faced a shortage of competitive athletes, limiting options for international advancement. In the past year, the association has partnered with multiple educational institutions and schools, allocating budget to build squash courts at educational facilities for training young athletes. Most recently, courts were donated to a school in Sangkhla Buri, Kanchanaburi Province.

Chalitrat noted that while the association was fortunate to receive budget support from PTT Oil and Retail Company (OR), funding remains insufficient for continuous development, particularly in youth athlete creation. He pointed out that the main issue is inadequate state support through the Sports Development Fund and Thailand Sports Authority, with all sports associations experiencing budget cuts and insufficient funding for both national and international competitions. Nevertheless, the association will continue progressing and developing.

Akkarin Hiranyaprueksa, secretary-general of the Thai Squash Association, outlined the association's plans for the year. Beyond expanding youth athlete development, a key priority is sending athletes to compete at the Asian Games in Japan in September. The association has hired a Pakistani foreign coach, recognized for developing Malaysian squash athletes to continental prominence. He will oversee Thai athletes for six months through the Asian Games, helping develop technique, establish training systems, prepare teams, and advance athletes to the international level. If results are positive, collaboration may extend through the SEA Games in Malaysia in two years.
