Preventing Threats Without Violating Rights: True Corporation Joins Forces with Government to Combat Call and SMS Scams

True Corporation is partnering with Thai government agencies to combat escalating phone and SMS scams through network detection and data-sharing protocols that prioritize user privacy protection alongside security measures.

30 Apr Khaosod

As phone and SMS fraud schemes grow increasingly sophisticated, True Corporation is escalating its integrated approach to combat them, covering both network-level detection and collaboration with government agencies. The company is emphasizing a crucial principle: "preventing threats must not violate rights"—maintaining a balance between security and data privacy to build sustainable digital trust.

Montri Sathaparakul, head of personal data protection at True Corporation, outlined the company's commitment to trust at a forum titled "From Detection to Protection: Thailand's Model for Combating Call and SMS Scams," organized by Thailand's telecom regulator. He stressed that modern service providers bear responsibility not just for delivering services but for safeguarding digital society through technology, regulation, and cross-sector collaboration.

Over the past year, True has worked closely with government and law enforcement agencies, processing over 70,000 data requests with strict verification procedures to ensure access is lawful, necessary, and within proper scope. This approach demonstrates that digital security requires system-wide cooperation to build lasting trust.

Clear legal frameworks—particularly laws addressing cyber crime prevention and suppression—play a vital role in strengthening collaboration between telecom providers and the state. "Clear laws enable service providers to effectively support law enforcement under proper conditions, while still respecting user rights," Sathaparakul explained.

True has shifted from reactive incident response to proactive prevention by developing network-level monitoring systems that detect suspicious behavior at the source and strengthen mechanisms to reduce fraud risks from calls and SMS scams. However, balancing cybersecurity with user rights protection remains a challenge requiring technology, regulation, and operational transparency.

In an era where data drives the digital economy, responsible data management is crucial for building long-term trust. True Corporation aims to be a Thai telecom company that not only connects people but also sets higher standards for personal data protection.

Thailand Claims Second Place at Asian Beach Games with 10 Gold Medals – Sports Authority Eyes Asian Games Preparation

Thailand claimed 10 gold medals to finish second at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, falling short of its 15-medal target but providing valuable preparation data for the 2025 Asian Games in Nagoya.

30 Apr Khaosod

Thailand's athletic delegation finished second at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya 2026, claiming 10 gold medals. Dr. Kongsakdi Yodmani, director of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), is satisfied with the result despite missing the 15 gold medal target, and is preparing to use the performance data and athlete statistics to strengthen the team for the upcoming Asian Games.

Dr. Kongsakdi Yodmani revealed that Thailand's athletes earned 10 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, finishing second overall. While falling short of the initial 15 gold medal goal, the director considers the second-place finish commendable, as the team had aimed for a top-3 position before competition began.

The SAT chief praised performance across multiple sports including beach athletics, takraw, sailing (windsurfing and kiteboarding), dragon boat racing, and beach volleyball, all of which won gold medals. He acknowledged that some sports earning silver and bronze medals showed potential for improvement, with lessons to be carried forward. Overall, he believes the results can serve as a foundation for the 20th Asian Games scheduled for September 19 to October 4, 2025, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

"This time, we're not focused solely on medal counts," Dr. Kongsakdi stated. "Above all, our athletes gained valuable experience and tested their physical strength. Some sports may have familiar names, but the rules and competition formats differ, providing Thai athletes with an opportunity to compete against leading Asian nations. Many beach games sports use the same athlete pools as the Asian Games, so continuous training will continue until the Asian Games. The SAT will analyze all the performance data and statistics from the Asian Beach Games to further strengthen Thailand's athletic team."

The 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya concluded on April 30, 2025, after running from April 22-30. Thailand's 176 athletes competed across all 14 sports, earning 10 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze medals for second place overall. Host nation China topped the medal count with 24 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals, while Iran placed third with 9 gold and 1 silver.

Thailand's 28 total medals came from beach athletics (3 gold, 1 silver), takraw (3 gold), sailing (2 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze), dragon boat racing (1 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze), beach volleyball (1 gold, 1 bronze), 3×3 basketball (1 silver, 1 bronze), beach handball (2 bronze), water polo (1 bronze), and jujitsu (1 bronze).

The 7th Asian Beach Games will be held in Cebu, Philippines, in 2028.

Tak Muyura Talks with Veterinarian: 90% of Dog Owners Feed Their Dogs Incorrectly Their Whole Lives

A veterinarian warns that 90% of dog owners feed their pets incorrectly throughout their lives, potentially causing serious health issues. Experts discuss proper canine nutrition, revealing that while dogs can physically eat human food, it rarely meets their specific dietary needs and often leads to malnutrition or diseases. The discussion covers home-cooked diets, commercial kibble benefits, and common feeding mistakes like overfeeding and excessive treats.

30 Apr Khaosod

Host Tak Muyura invites a veterinarian to discuss pet nutrition on Tack Talk Special, revealing that 90% of dog owners make feeding mistakes throughout their pets' lives. Veterinarians warn that foods owners think are beneficial may actually be harming their dogs, from dental chews that risk stomach perforation to raw food diets. How can we keep our dogs living longer?

Experts dive deep into canine nutrition with Dr. Kamdis Wannarun and Thong-Pornpan Prathani, CEO of a pet food company with animal nutrition expertise, exposing hidden information on food packaging that most owners overlook. Don't let your love become "poison" you unknowingly give to your beloved pet!

Can dogs eat human food? Pornpan Prathani: I'd frame it differently. When we raise pets and love them like children, we have our own perception of what's good for us, and we want our pets to eat the same way. That comes from a good place—from love. But whether they can eat it is a different matter. Dogs can physically eat anything they can put in their mouths and chew. But that doesn't mean it's appropriate.

It's inappropriate because their nutritional needs are completely different from ours. Every aspect of their body differs from ours. If you frequently give dogs human food, malnutrition follows. Sometimes there's too much, sometimes too little—it's never the right balance for them. Even scarier are the diseases that develop without us realizing until it's too late. Liver values spike, kidney values spike, pancreatic inflammation, and you're crying at the veterinary hospital.

If it's home-cooked food without any seasoning, can dogs eat it? Dr. Kamdis Wannarun: From a veterinarian's perspective, we call that a Home Cook Diet—food where the owner selects various ingredients like meat, carbohydrates, fats, and vegetables as fiber sources, then mixes them into one meal for your pet.

But can they eat it? Yes, anything that goes in the mouth can be eaten. But is what you've prepared actually appropriate? That requires another look. Usually, if owners prepare food without understanding how to calculate proper portions, nutrients end up either excessive or insufficient—neither appropriate for your pet.

Actually, the kibble eaten daily has nutrients calculated very precisely to exactly what your dog should receive each day. Like humans, it includes five food groups—proper proportions of proteins, amino acids, vitamins, fats, minerals—everything calculated perfectly in one piece of kibble. So your dog receives complete nutrition every single day.

What's the most common feeding mistake dog owners make? Pornpan Prathani: What we commonly see is overfeeding. When your pet is at home and wants food, they come rub against your arm and leg, and you just keep giving. Another big mistake is giving too many treats beyond their regular food.

Giving treats feels like expressing love, so we spoil them completely because we're afraid they won't love us back. The consequence is diseases or behaviors where they've eaten so many treats they're full. Once they're full, the next thing that happens is selective eating. It becomes a chain reaction with no end. It's not that your dog has bad behavior—it's you, the owner, who created it. Dr. Kamdis Wannarun: Regarding treats and snacks, when giving to your pet, you need to...

International Korean Scammer Arrested in Luxury Condo with Ice Drug; Subject of INTERPOL Red Notice

A 31-year-old Korean national wanted on an INTERPOL Red Notice for telecom fraud and human trafficking was arrested at a Bangkok luxury condo with methamphetamine in his possession on April 30.

30 Apr Khaosod

Police Region 3 arrested an international Korean scammer wanted on an INTERPOL Red Notice at a luxury condominium in Bangkok's Huai Khwang district on April 30, 2025. Acting on information provided by the South Korean Embassy in Thailand, investigators under the command of Police Region 3 leadership tracked down the suspect, identified as Mr. GIJU (surname withheld), 31, who had entered Thailand on April 2, 2025 on a tourist visa. The suspect is wanted for organized crime involving telecommunications-based financial fraud, trafficking Korean nationals to scam centers in Cambodia for forced labor, and money laundering through voice phishing schemes, converting proceeds to digital currency (USDT) while based in the Philippines. Officers arrested the suspect at the luxury condominium and revoked his visa due to his status as a prohibited alien and threat to public safety. A search discovered 1.31 grams of methamphetamine hidden in his bag. He was charged with illegal possession of a Category 1 controlled substance and referred to Huai Khwang Police Station for further legal proceedings. Background checks revealed prior convictions in South Korea for sexual assault in 2022 and drug distribution in 2023, indicating a dangerous pattern of criminal behavior with high risk of reoffending.

PM Deflects Questions to Agriculture Minister on High-Profile Bureaucratic Reshuffle Drama

A senior agriculture official resigned over political pressure, prompting PM Anutin to redirect questions to the Agriculture Minister instead of addressing allegations of interference in the bureaucratic reshuffle.

30 Apr Khaosod

At 10:54 AM on April 30, 2025, at the Royal Thai Police Office, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister addressed the case of Rachan Silparayya, director-general of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department, who announced his early retirement following his reassignment to an inspector-general position. He cited his inability to comply with political directives as his reason for stepping down. The PM stated that questions should be directed to Agriculture Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, as he oversees the ministry. When pressed about what appeared to be a major conflict between the department chief and the Agriculture Minister, the PM reiterated that the Agriculture Minister should be asked about the rationale behind the decision. When reporters raised questions about alleged third-party interference in the high-level civil service transfer, the PM declined to comment and promptly left the area.

Nom Jit Set to Raise Student Uniform Prices Next Year if Production Costs Surge Beyond 20%

Nom Jit Manufacturing says it will maintain student uniform prices through 2025 despite production costs rising 5-10% due to higher energy and transportation expenses. The company can absorb these increases because most uniforms being sold this year are old stock produced before cost pressures mounted, though it may raise prices if production costs surge beyond 20% next year.

30 Apr Khaosod

Nom Jit Manufacturing Limited, represented by Managing Director Anon Jitmeesilp, announced the company will keep student uniform prices frozen throughout the 2025 academic year and both terms, even as production costs have risen approximately 5-10% from increases in energy, oil, and transportation expenses. Key raw materials including polyester fabric, plastic, buttons, and thread—all tied to oil prices—have become more expensive, but the company will maintain current prices since most uniforms being sold this year are old stock from 2024 produced before global cost pressures escalated.

Currently, Nom Jit manufactures continuously year-round, with nearly all uniforms sold during this semester coming from existing inventory. New batches hit by higher costs will be produced for next year's sales around May 2026, allowing the company to absorb costs in the short term. Although shipping costs have already impacted operations, management believes they can manage without immediate price increases.

"We will reassess average costs again," a company statement noted. "If costs don't rise much, we can maintain prices, but if they spike significantly—say 20-30%—we may need to adjust prices on specific necessary products next year."

Parental purchasing power in 2025 is expected to remain flat compared to 2024, which already saw weak consumer spending. Most parents buy only essential items, with students changing grades purchasing 2-4 uniforms on average depending on school requirements, while returning customers often buy just one uniform or opt for alterations and repairs instead of new purchases to save money.

Nom Jit's current uniform prices start around 200 baht per set and can reach 300-400 baht depending on size and type. The overall student uniform market remains highly competitive, with consumers choosing from various price points across major brands, secondary brands, and both retail and online channels.

While some schools are allowing casual or private uniforms on certain days, this trend won't significantly impact the market over the next 5-10 years, as most parents and schools still see value in uniforms for cost savings, discipline, and educational management.

Arteta Fumes as Arsenal Robbed of Second Penalty in Atletico Madrid Draw

Arsenal manager Miguel Arteta has strongly criticized the referee for overturning a second penalty in their 1-1 Champions League semifinal draw with Atletico Madrid, calling the decision unacceptable at that level of competition. The penalty was initially awarded in the 78th minute but was overturned after a VAR review, which Arteta argued showed clear contact and changed the match outcome. Despite the controversial decision, Arteta expressed confidence in his team ahead of the decisive second leg at home on May 5.

30 Apr Khaosod

Arsenal manager Miguel Arteta expressed his frustration over the controversial overturn of a second penalty in the Gunners' 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg on April 29. Arsenal scored first through Victor Osimhen's penalty in the 44th minute, before Atletico equalized via Julian Alvarez's penalty in the 56th minute. However, in the 78th minute, after Bukayo Saka crossed for Abericio Azeez who was knocked down by David Hanslik, the referee awarded a penalty to Arsenal. The decision was overturned after VAR review, with the referee determining no foul had occurred. After the match, Arteta criticized the referee's decision to overturn the penalty, saying: "After going back inside, speaking with teammates, and reviewing the penalty incident again, it's very disappointing and frustrating because it broke the rules and changed the outcome of the match. I'm deeply sorry." He added: "The entire sequence shows clear contact. You made your decision. You can't change that decision after reviewing it 13 times. It's completely unacceptable at this level. It was a wrong decision." The 44-year-old manager also expressed pride in his team's performance and emphasized their focus on the second leg at home on May 5, saying they want to win and reach the final.

Trump Consults Oil Companies on Iran Squeeze, Shares Gun Photo with 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' Caption

President Trump met with oil executives to discuss managing the impact of a prolonged U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports while calling for international cooperation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump demanded Iran abandon nuclear weapons and posted a provocative mock image with 'No more Mr. Nice Guy' caption, escalating tensions as oil prices surged over 6 percent. The U.S. military has spent $25 billion on the conflict, while Iran threatened unprecedented military operations and demanded recognition of its uranium enrichment rights.

30 Apr Khaosod

President Donald Trump discussed how to mitigate the impact of a possible months-long U.S. blockade of Iran's ports with oil companies, a White House official said on Wednesday, as the U.S. renewed its calls for other nations to help open the Strait of Hormuz. Tuesday's talks with oil executives followed a deadlock in efforts to resolve the conflict, which has led the United States to try to squeeze Iran's oil exports with a naval blockade aimed at forcing it to reopen the Strait to shipping. Trump stated that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons despite repeatedly claiming its program is for peaceful purposes. 'They don't know how to sign a non-nuclear deal. They'd better get smart soon!' Trump said in a social media post. He also posted a mock-up image of himself wearing dark glasses and wielding a machine gun, captioned 'No more Mr. Nice Guy.' Oil prices rose more than 6 percent, with Brent crude touching its highest level in a month due to the prolonged blockade outlook. U.S. Department of Defense officials stated the conflict has already cost the U.S. military $25 billion, the first official cost estimate following U.S. coordination with Israel in launching strikes against Iran in February 2025. Meanwhile, Iran vowed to continue blocking passage through the Strait of Hormuz as long as it remains threatened, warning of 'unprecedented military operations.' Iran is seeking U.S. recognition of its right to uranium enrichment for civilian and peaceful purposes. Iran currently holds approximately 440 kilograms of 60 percent enriched uranium, enough to produce significant quantities of nuclear weapons. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament and head of its negotiating team, said Trump is attempting to divide Iranians and force capitulation through the blockade. 'The only way to counter the enemy's new conspiracy is to maintain unity,' Qalibaf said. Iran's latest proposal to end the conflict, which has been suspended since April 8 under a ceasefire agreement, would defer nuclear program discussions until the conflict is formally resolved and shipping issues are addressed.

Luxury Villa on Koh Samui: Arrest of Dangerous Criminal and Leader of 'Avengers' Gang

An Israeli national wanted for violent crimes including murder and bomb-making was arrested at a luxury villa in Koh Samui and deported after Thai immigration police coordinated with Interpol and the Israeli Embassy.

30 Apr Khaosod

On April 30, 2025, Deputy Commander Chuthesan Yingyongdam of Region 6 Immigration Police revealed that immigration officials coordinated with Interpol and the Israeli Embassy's police and security attaché office to arrest and extradite Matan Avif, 28, an Israeli national wanted for serious security and criminal violations. Avif is a high-ranking member of the 'Avengers' criminal organization established in Israel and had fled to Thailand to evade prosecution under an Interpol red notice and Israeli arrest warrant.

The Israeli Embassy identified Avif as a dangerous person involved in violent crimes with an extensive criminal history including theft, fraud, illegal weapons possession, drug trafficking, murder, bomb transport and creation, threats, possession of prohibited equipment, and drug-related offenses involving minors.

Investigators from Suratthani Provincial Police traced Avif's movements and discovered he was hiding with four others at a luxury villa in Koh Samui. They recommended his deportation, which was approved by the Immigration Bureau. Officers successfully apprehended Avif on April 29 at 4:00 PM, issued a deportation order, and placed him in custody pending extradition to Israel while adding him to the blacklist prohibiting future entry.

Deputy Commander Chuthesan stated this operation aligns with the Royal Thai Police's transnational crime suppression policy under Police Commander Kittirat Punthaiphet and Deputy Commander Panumat Bunnyalak, targeting foreign nationals with antisocial behavior and international criminal gangs using Thailand as a base. Police urge the public to report suspicious foreign nationals by calling the hotline 1178 available 24 hours daily.
