Keito Nakamura has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs following an impressive performance with Japan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. BBC reports indicate that Nakamura, a midfielder for the Japanese national team, is garnering attention from several English Premier League clubs after his impressive display at the 2026 World Cup. Although Japan's World Cup campaign ended in the round of 32, Nakamura started all four matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Reports show that at least three Premier League teams—Everton, Bournemouth, and Fulham—have demonstrated clear interest in Nakamura. Additionally, Spanish club Real Madrid and Turkish side Beşiktaş have been linked with the player. Currently with Rennes in France's Ligue 1, the club appears willing to allow the Japanese star to move if presented with a suitable offer. Reports suggest Rennes is seeking a transfer fee of approximately £21.5 million.

Unai Simon Sets World Cup Shutout Record

Spain's goalkeeper Unai Simon broke the World Cup knockout shutout record with 519 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal, surpassing Italian legend Walter Zenga's 1990 mark of 517 minutes.

1d ago Khaosod

Spain's goalkeeper Unai Simon has set a new record for consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in World Cup knockout matches after keeping a clean sheet in Spain's 3-0 rout of Austria on July 2.

The previous record was held by Italian goalkeeping legend Walter Zenga, who went 517 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal during the 1990 World Cup. In that tournament, Zenga was unbeaten throughout the group stage (beating Austria 1-0, the United States 1-0, and Czechoslovakia 2-0), followed by the round of 16 (defeating Uruguay 2-0) and the semifinal (defeating Ireland 1-0). In the final, Zenga's streak continued until the 67th minute when Claudio Caniggia equalized for Argentina 1-1, before Argentina won on penalties 4-3.

Simon's record traces back to Spain's final group match at the 2022 World Cup, when Spain lost to Japan 1-2, with Ao Tanaka scoring the goal on Spain in the 51st minute. In the round of 16, Spain drew with Morocco 0-0 after 120 minutes before losing on penalties 0-3.

In the current World Cup, Spain has won two matches and drawn one without conceding (0-0 draw with Cape Verde, 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, 1-0 win over Uruguay), followed by the round of 32 match against Austria mentioned above.

So far, Simon has now kept a consecutive clean sheet for at least 519 minutes in World Cup play. If he continues his streak, the goalkeeper could extend this record further in the round of 16 match.

Spain Crushes Austria To Advance To World Cup Round Of 16

Spain advanced to the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 by crushing Austria 3-0 on July 3rd at SoFi Stadium, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Álex Balde. The dominant Group H champions will next face either Portugal or Croatia.

1d ago Khaosod

Spain advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on July 3rd at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles with a dominant performance against Austria. Spain, the Group H champions, faced Austria, the Group J runners-up, in what turned out to be a one-sided affair.

Coach Luis de la Fuente deployed Spain's familiar 4-2-3-1 formation with a starting lineup including goalkeeper Unai Simón, defenders Pedri Porro, Pau Cubarsí, and Ayoze Perez, midfielders Rodri and Pedri, and forwards Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Álex Balde, and Mikel Oyarzabal. Austria's coach Ralf Rangnick also opted for a 4-2-3-1 setup.

In the first half, despite Spain's dominance in possession and chances, they struggled to finish, though Austria also posed some threatening counter-attacks. In the 36th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal broke the deadlock, giving Spain a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Spain continued their attacking momentum in the second half. In the 66th minute, Álex Balde set up Pedro Porro, who finished clinically in the box to make it 2-0. The victory was sealed in the 89th minute when Oyarzabal scored again, giving Spain a 3-0 demolition of Austria and a place in the Round of 16.

Spain will face the winner of the Portugal versus Croatia match on July 7th at AT&T Stadium in Texas for the next round.

Indian Man Arrested for Overstaying After Scamming Woman for 3 Years

Indian national Gurvinder Singh was arrested in Nonthaburi for overstaying in Thailand by 1,201 days after a Thai woman reported he had conned her into supporting him for three years following a dating app meeting.

1d ago Khaosod

A frustrated Thai woman reported an Indian man to police after he conned her into supporting him for three years following their meeting on a dating app. On July 2, 2025, officers from Nonthaburi Immigration arrested Mr. Gurvinder Singh, 28, an Indian national, at a condominium in Wat Chalo subdistrict, Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi province. He was charged with illegally remaining in Thailand as his visa expired on March 19, 2022, resulting in an overstay of 1,201 days.

The victim, Ms. Daow (pseudonym), 34, a government employee, reported that she met the suspect about three years ago through a dating application. At the time, he claimed to be a student in Singapore working part-time while coming from a wealthy, high-status Indian family who had sent him to study in Canada, Russia, and Cyprus. Convinced by his apparent wealth and international background, she agreed to a relationship. After several months of online communication, he persuaded her to let him move to Thailand to live with her and work together.

Upon arriving in Thailand, the suspect refused to find employment or help with household chores. Over the three-year period, he never worked or contributed financially, remaining at home while the victim bore all living expenses. His behavior also became increasingly temperamental and unpleasant. The victim eventually decided to seek police help after realizing she had been exploited.

When questioned, Ms. Daow acknowledged her mistake in using the dating app, noting that while others had found success, her experience turned into a burden. She has since deleted the app and warned others to thoroughly screen and verify people before trusting them.

Gurvinder Singh admitted he came to Thailand to avoid returning to India after completing his studies in Singapore. He used the dating app to find someone, met Ms. Daow, and moved in with her without extending his visa, allowing his stay to become illegal over time.

DFB Pressures Nagelsmann to Resign or Face Firing

Germany's football association has pressured coach Julian Nagelsmann to resign after the team's disappointing 2026 World Cup exit in the round of 32 on penalties against Paraguay. The DFB offered him the option to step down voluntarily or f

1d ago Khaosod

Germany's national football association (DFB) has urged coach Julian Nagelsmann to resign voluntarily from his position, or face potential dismissal. According to Sky Sports Germany, DFB executives recommended Nagelsmann step down on his own terms rather than be fired. Germany delivered a disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup, eliminated in the round of 32 after drawing Paraguay 1-1 in extra time and losing 3-4 on penalties. Nagelsmann faced intense criticism for his tactical decisions and overall management during the tournament. Reports indicate Nagelsmann held extensive discussions with DFB officials, and while he expressed willingness to continue, the association's leadership appeared to favor a change in direction. The DFB offered Nagelsmann the option to resign gracefully, but if they proceed with dismissal, the 38-year-old coach would receive substantial compensation given his contract runs through 2028. It appears increasingly clear that the DFB is considering bringing in prominent manager Jürgen Klopp as his replacement. Klopp currently holds the position of global head of football for the Red Bull organization.

Truck Carrying Migrant Workers Flips in Heavy Rain, Killing 2

A pickup truck illegally carrying 10 migrant workers flipped on a rain-slicked highway in Kamphaeng Phet province, killing two workers; the driver fled the scene.

1d ago Khaosod

At 8:30 p.m. on July 2, 2569, investigators from Mueang Kamphaeng Phet police station received reports of a pickup truck that had overturned on the roadside with multiple fatalities and injuries. Officers arrived at the scene on Highway 1116 near Ban Pang Khun in Na Bo Kham subdistrict, Mueang district, Kamphaeng Phet province, where they found a black Toyota Revo four-door vehicle with license plate Kor Jor 37 (Amphoe Charoen) completely overturned.

The truck was illegally transporting 10 migrant workers. Two male workers were killed, two sustained serious injuries, and six suffered minor injuries. The driver fled the scene. Emergency responders from Na Bo Kham subadministrative organization and rescue volunteers provided assistance to the injured and transported the deceased to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital for identification and legal proceedings.

Investigators determined the accident resulted from heavy rainfall that made the road slippery, and the unfamiliar driver lost control of the vehicle. The two fatal victims were thrown from the truck bed and struck by the vehicle. Police will interrogate all remaining migrant workers to identify the human traffickers and pursue legal action. This stretch of highway is frequently used by smugglers transporting illegal workers into Thailand, and authorities have made numerous arrests in the past.

UEFA Rejects World Cup Mouth-Guard Red Card Rule for European Cups

UEFA will not adopt FIFA's automatic red card rule for mouth-covering in European competitions, despite the rule being approved for the 2026 World Cup, citing the need to evaluate incidents individually rather than apply blanket penalties.

1d ago Khaosod

UEFA has confirmed that the red card rule for players covering their mouths when facing opponents—which takes effect at the 2026 FIFA World Cup—will not be implemented in any European cup competitions next season.

The rule originated from a UEFA Champions League match in February after an incident involving Benfica forward Júan Luca Prestianni, who covered his mouth while speaking to Real Madrid striker Vinícius Júnior.

Prestianni was initially suspended for one match on racism charges. Following a further investigation, UEFA determined the Argentine player was guilty of using sexist language and imposed a six-match ban with three matches suspended.

Following this incident, FIFA proposed the automatic red card rule for mouth-covering as a measure to combat discrimination in football. The rule was subsequently approved by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) for use in World Cup competitions.

However, UEFA believes such situations should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine whether there was intent to conceal inappropriate communication contrary to sporting principles. UEFA's decision not to enforce this rule will not affect any subsequent investigations or disciplinary proceedings.

Additionally, UEFA will not automatically issue red cards to players who leave the field in protest, instead leaving that to the referee's discretion. UEFA will, however, utilize VAR to review incorrectly awarded corner kicks.

Man Found Shot Dead After Mother Reports Unconscious Son

A 38-year-old man was found shot dead in his Udon Thani bedroom after his mother reported him unconscious; police discovered the fatal gunshot wound during autopsy and are investigating whether it was self-inflicted, as friends reported he

1d ago Khaosod

Emergency responders in Udon Thani province received a call at 1 p.m. on July 2, 2025, about an unconscious man in a residential home in Mak Khaeng subdistrict. Upon arrival, rescue workers and hospital staff found 38-year-old Tosapol (nickname O) dead in his bedroom, lying on his back wearing only boxer shorts. An alcohol bottle and blood-stained pillow were found at the head of the bed. Initial assessment suggested he had been dead for at least two hours.

A detailed autopsy at Udon Thani Hospital revealed the man had been shot in the right temple, with the bullet exiting through the back of his head. This contradicted the initial report of a patient collapse, prompting police to conduct thorough questioning and evidence collection. Investigators discovered the weapon was a .38mm handgun belonging to the victim's father, a retired police officer. The gun was not in the deceased's hand when police arrived but had been placed on a shelf near the bedroom entrance and covered with cloth.

Niran (an alias), the 23-year-old younger brother who entered the room with their mother, explained that when he opened the door, he found O lying in bed with the gun on his chest, still in hand. Thinking O was asleep and fearing the gun might discharge if O woke suddenly, he removed it and placed it on the shelf with cloth covering. When he later tried to wake O and turned on the light, he saw blood and realized his brother was dead, immediately alerting authorities.

A friend named Pao, 38, disclosed that the day before the incident, the deceased had said he wanted to die. Pao attempted to console him and planned to take him to see a doctor. Another friend, Jingchoo, 25, revealed that two to three weeks prior, the victim had admitted over the phone that he wanted to die but gave no reason. She had encouraged him to seek medical help. Friends described him as generally kind and helpful, though he had withdrawn socially over the past year.

Liam Gallagher Urges England Fans to Keep 'Wonderwall' Tradition Alive

Liam Gallagher is calling on England fans to keep singing Oasis's "Wonderwall" after matches during the 2026 World Cup, a tradition that began following victories over Croatia and DR Congo.

1d ago Khaosod

Oasis legend Liam Gallagher is appealing to English football supporters to maintain the spirit of their post-match 'Wonderwall' singing tradition during the 2026 World Cup. The iconic 1995 track, composed by Gallagher's brother Noel, has become a rallying cry after England's victories, starting with the group-stage win over Croatia (4-2) and continuing through their 2-1 knockout-round triumph over DR Congo. After the Congo match, Gallagher took to X to urge fans: "Let's keep the spirit alive. If the government we elected can't deliver, it's down to the people. Come on England." The song has transcended football culture—Manchester City, the club supported by both Gallagher brothers, also plays it after every home match.

Pickup Truck Cuts Off Rescue Vehicle En Route To Emergency

A rescue vehicle responding to a traffic accident was hit by a pickup truck that suddenly cut in front of it on Theprat Road in Samut Prakan on July 2, injuring three volunteers from Ruam Katanyu Foundation.

1d ago Khaosod

A pickup truck suddenly changed lanes and struck a rescue vehicle responding to a traffic accident on Theprat Road in Samut Prakan on July 2, 2569. The rescue team from Ruam Katanyu Foundation was heading to assist accident victims when they were hit just one kilometer away from their destination. Three foundation volunteers were injured in the collision.

According to mobile phone footage recorded by foundation volunteers, the rescue vehicle was traveling in rain with lights and sirens activated while heading to the accident scene on Theprat Road at kilometer 15. As the vehicle approached kilometer 16—just one kilometer from the destination—a black pickup truck traveling in the center lane abruptly swerved right, cutting directly in front of the rescue vehicle in the right lane. The rescue vehicle could not brake in time and collided with the center median barrier.

The rescue vehicle had its emergency lights and sirens on throughout the journey. Three volunteers aboard suffered injuries, fortunately not severe.

Prasert Saengtong, a volunteer with Ruam Katanyu Foundation, explained that after receiving the emergency call about the accident on Theprat Road at kilometer 15, the team drove carefully through the rain at moderate speed. The other driver suddenly cut in front with no warning, and the brakes could not engage in time. Prasert noted that fortunately they were not driving faster.

The pickup truck driver claimed he could not see the rescue vehicle despite its activated lights and siren, saying he was rushing to work and made an unintentional lane change.

The injured volunteers are now in stable condition. They were admitted to the hospital for observation due to chest impact injuries from the collision.

Myanmar Revives Myitsone Dam After 15-Year Halt

Myanmar plans to resume the $3.6 billion Myitsone Dam project in Kachin State after a 15-year suspension, with construction expected to complete within eight years following President Min Aung Hlaing's visit to China.

1d ago Khaosod

Myanmar's government has set its sights on resuming the Myitsone Dam project, valued at $3.6 billion (approximately 119.92 billion baht), in Myitkyina, Kachin State in the country's north, with plans to complete it within eight years. This move comes following Myanmar President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing's official visit to China last June.

Tet Paw Thoo, a Kachin State parliament member, stated that the project will begin soon after being suspended in 2011 due to intense public protests against the hydroelectric power station, Myanmar's largest project. He noted that an official announcement has already been made by President Min Aung Hlaing that the Myitsone Dam construction will resume.

Reports indicate that the suspension of the project deeply displeased China, but public protests against China's deep influence in Myanmar and environmental concerns caused the halt of plans to export 90 percent of the 6-gigawatt capacity to China.

This power generation capacity would make the Myitsone Dam rank among Southeast Asia's largest hydroelectric projects, though smaller than China's Sanxia or Sampho dams, which have a capacity of 22.5 gigawatts.

Resuming the Myitsone Dam project could cost as much as $11.5 billion (approximately 383.3 billion baht), more than three times the original 2009 price. This estimate is based on the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)'s latest assessment, which indicates average construction costs of $1,914 per kilowatt for hydroelectric projects in Asia outside China and India.
