NRPT Partners with Impossible Foods to Position Thailand as Asia-Pacific Plant-Based Meat Production Hub

Thailand-based Nutra Regenerative Protein has partnered with U.S. plant-based meat leader Impossible Foods to establish the Asia-Pacific region's primary manufacturing hub for meat alternatives. The facility holds the region's first BRCGS Plant-based A+ certification and plans to distribute approximately 500,000 kilograms annually across Asia-Pacific while exporting to Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

6d ago Khaosod

Nutra Regenerative Protein (NRPT), a food venture of the PTT Group, has announced a major strategic partnership with Impossible Foods, the global leader in plant-based meat innovation from the United States. Thailand's plant-based meat production facility will serve as the primary manufacturing hub for the Asia-Pacific region, supporting the region's growing future food market.

NRPT manufactures and develops plant-based meat products using international-standard technology and production processes. The facility is the first 100% plant-based meat factory in Asia-Pacific to achieve BRCGS Plant-based Level A+ certification for plant-based food production and distribution for three consecutive years—a global food safety and quality standard recognized by leading international retailers and food brands. The company is capable of developing diverse product lines.

Impossible Foods is a developer and distributor of plant-based meat products with the highest market share in the United States and ranks among the world's top five largest plant-based meat manufacturers. The company's key innovation is heme (soy leghemoglobin), a proprietary protein extracted from soybean roots that gives the products a taste, color, and aroma nearly identical to real meat.

"The company plans to expand into the Asia-Pacific market with initial distribution volumes of approximately 500,000 kilograms per year in the region."

This partnership reflects Impossible Foods' confidence in Nutra's potential as an international manufacturing and product development partner for future food. Production and distribution in Thailand have already begun, with exports now reaching Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

Victims of 'Chang Neung Wan Jeep' Contractor Forced to Sleep in Garage After Selling Land for Home Construction, File Complaint with Anti-Corruption Bureau

A group of 20 victims filed a criminal complaint against a contractor known as 'Chang Neung Wan Jeep' for breaching home construction contracts and collecting millions of baht without delivering promised work. The case has left victims homeless, with some forced to live in garages after selling their land, and has even resulted in at least one suicide. Authorities are being urged to accelerate the investigation as the contractor allegedly continues accepting new construction projects online.

6d ago Khaosod

Twenty victims of contractor 'Chang Neung Wan Jeep' filed complaints at the Central Investigation Bureau on May 13, 2026, after the contractor breached their construction contracts and caused losses totaling millions of baht. One victim, Mr. Moltian, explained that he contacted the contractor online to discuss and sign a contract for a single-story townhouse-style home with a 10-month construction timeline. However, after work began, the contractor only completed partial tasks like structural framing and roof installation, failing to finish according to the agreed plan. When victims tried to follow up, they were given excuses and repeatedly asked for additional payments before disappearing entirely.

Another victim, Ms. Naya, revealed that the contractor used a system of incremental payments disguised as material costs, labor fees, or equipment charges, claiming urgent necessity to convince victims to transfer additional funds continuously. Some victims lost between hundreds of thousands to millions of baht, while their homes showed minimal progress. Ms. Naya disclosed that she sold her land to build a home for her disabled father, transferring approximately 950,000 baht to the contractor only to receive an unfinished structure. She now lives in a garage with her father.

"I lost over 950,000 baht on construction but received only concrete footing and steel frames already rusting," Ms. Naya stated. "The abandoned structure flooded and caused additional damage to the family's original property."

Ms. Nalin mentioned that when they previously reported the case at Non Sung Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima, the investigating officer classified it as a civil matter rather than a criminal case. They are now requesting the Anti-Corruption Bureau to handle it as a criminal offense. Notably, the contractor previously offered to complete one victim's house in Nakhon Ratchasima, but the victim refused due to lost trust.

Tragically, one victim named Uncle Lek, 59, took his own life after being deceived by the contractor. He left a final letter stating "I was foolish to be tricked," specifically naming the contractor.

Ms. Nalin also warned that the contractor continues operating the construction business through his Facebook page, potentially creating more victims. She urged relevant authorities to accelerate investigation to prevent further widespread damage.

Environment Minister Sends Deputy to Investigate Freedom Beach Forest Encroachment Case Against 'Sai Lek'

Thailand's Environment Ministry has launched an enforcement operation against forest encroachment at Freedom Beach in Phuket, with Deputy Minister Nantachat investigating a suspect known as 'Sai Lek' who faces four charges related to illegal construction within a national forest reserve. The crackdown reflects the government's commitment to strictly enforcing laws against natural resource violations by influential figures, with potential penalties including imprisonment and substantial fines.

6d ago Khaosod

Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin is accelerating enforcement against natural resource encroachment following directives from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and the Interior Ministry, which have instructed all agencies to strictly enforce laws against powerful groups and influential figures illegally occupying state land, particularly forest reserves and important tourism areas. On May 12, Suchat tasked Deputy Minister Nantachat Suphomongkol with traveling to Phuket Province alongside Provincial Administrator Roongrueang Thimabutr and Forest Department officials to investigate the encroachment of a national forest reserve at Freedom Beach, a world-famous tourist destination.

Deputy Minister Nantachat stated that this operation represents an escalation of law enforcement to reclaim forests and protect the nation's natural resources, with action taken impartially against all violators regardless of their influence or wealth. The government emphasizes protecting natural resources, and justice must apply equally to all parties, though those responsible for forest destruction will face strict legal consequences.

Suspect Prin, known as 'Sai Lek', met with Deputy Minister Nantachat during the investigation and submitted to questioning by Karon Police regarding four cases under the Forestry Act of 1941 and the National Forest Reserve Act of 1964. Officials confirmed unauthorized construction on approximately 10 rai within the national forest reserve, and despite the suspect's claims of long-term occupation and land title documents (Por Sor. 4-01), authorities proceeded based on evidence and facts applied fairly to all parties.

Forest reserve encroachment carries penalties of one to ten years imprisonment and fines ranging from 20,000 to 200,000 baht, with violators potentially liable for damages based on the value of affected natural resources.

Fort Nattawat Wins Hearts with Generous Spirit, Reveals Live Stream Gifts Going to Charity and Hints at Vietnam Fan Meet

GMMTV actor Fort Nattawat has won widespread praise for his charitable spirit after announcing that all gifts from his live stream will be donated to charity, and urging fans to save money for concerts and movies instead. At a press conference for his film debut "Krita Da Paradise," Fort discussed the challenges of his first full-length film and revealed plans to meet fans in Vietnam soon.

6d ago Khaosod

Fort Nattawat has become the talk of the internet after the GMMTV heartthrob went live with fans and made a touching announcement: all gifts and sticker donations would go to charity. Fans were quick to praise his kindness and positive values.

On May 12, Fort appeared at a press conference for his first full-length film, "Krita Da Paradise," at SF World Cinema CentralWorld, where he opened up about the viral live stream moment, his film debut experience, and his upcoming trip to meet fans in Vietnam.

When asked about his first full film, Fort said: "I'm really happy. Today I got to see the work I put in, watched a bit of the cut scenes, and it brought back memories."

Regarding the behind-the-scenes challenges, he explained: "It wasn't too difficult for me, but it was a good challenge. The locations were pretty intense—I had to fly back and forth. The water park scene was especially cold."

Asked if he's afraid of ghosts—since the film is a horror movie—Fort admitted: "A little bit. I'm slightly afraid of ghosts, but the atmosphere on set didn't really scare us because there was a whole crew around."

On the most challenging scene, he noted: "Probably the fight scenes with ghosts. I had to learn martial arts for those. During actual filming, you need a lot of imagination too, since sometimes we're acting against green screens in a warehouse and have to imagine it's a real tall building. That's genuinely scary."

His mother accompanied him for part of the shoot, which made things easier. "She came for one trip, which was comforting. Though afterward, she probably got tired since we sometimes filmed until 5 a.m. and she'd fall asleep sitting there."

On the difference between acting in series versus films, Fort said: "They're difficult in different ways. In series, you wait for camera cues and for the other actor to finish speaking first. But in films, you have to respond in real-time, which feels more realistic."

Regarding the pressure of transitioning from series to a full film, he said: "It's more exciting than stressful. The character in this film has some bad habits—he likes to prank his friends."

When asked what the film is selling, Fort clarified: "I'd say overlook the BL vibes a bit. Even though just bumping into each other gets fans excited—and there's nothing wrong with that—it's not really a romance or romance-drama. It's actually a friendship film with some horror and comedy mixed in."

On his Vietnam fan meet, Fort shared: "I'll be going to a fan meet in Vietnam. I haven't seen those fans in many years." He's been preparing by practicing Vietnamese phrases like "Xin Chào" (hello) and is willing to perform Vietnamese songs if fans request them.

The fan meet will include singing and conversation, with more intimate photo opportunities and interactions than at previous concerts. Regarding concerns about airport chaos like what's happened in China, Fort said: "I understand those worries, but most of my fans are lovely and gentle. The team has safety measures in place, so no need to worry."

The trip will be about three days, with the event on one of those days. "I still need to sort out my schedule," he joked, "but it'll be very soon."

Army Deputy Chief Orders Enhanced Border Security to Close Smuggling Routes, Warns Residents to Report Before Collecting Forest Products

The Army Deputy Chief ordered enhanced border security to prevent smuggling after Cambodian soldiers were encountered near the Thailand-Cambodia border in Buriram Province, urging residents to notify officials before collecting forest produ

6d ago Khaosod

The Army Deputy Chief of Staff has ordered enhanced border security to close smuggling routes, urging residents to notify officials, headmen, and village elders before collecting forest products.

At 10:00 a.m. on May 13, 2025, at Don Mueang Military Air Base, General Chaiyapruks Duangpraphat, Army Chief of Staff, discussed his inspection of the Sai Takoo checkpoint area in Buriram Province to monitor border security operations and visited Abhiruk Butpet at his home in Ban Krot District, Buriram Province. The resident had encountered an armed group of Cambodian soldiers while collecting forest products in the area.

General Chaiyapruks stated he visited the area to assess vulnerable gaps after receiving reports from residents that Cambodian soldiers may be using these passages to infiltrate. He confirmed discussions with military commanders about strengthening area control and announced plans to check surveillance equipment including sensors and drones to improve civilian protection.

When asked whether the intruders were Cambodian military or illegal smugglers, the general confirmed they were Cambodian soldiers because both residents affirmed the armed personnel stood at close range and displayed threatening body language. However, the residents' familiarity with the terrain allowed them to escape before the soldiers could apprehend them.

Local military commanders subsequently spoke with the Cambodian soldiers, cautioning them to be careful and refrain from any actions affecting Thai citizens.

When asked if the general assessed whether the Cambodian soldiers came to gather intelligence or for another purpose, he stated that given the complex jungle terrain, multiple scenarios were possible—they could be conducting reconnaissance, searching for forest products, surveying Thai military positions, or infiltrating the area deliberately.

Regarding whether this violated the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Statement, the general said if evidence existed, action would be taken, though currently they only had local residents' accounts.

Concerning Yot Sainoi, a Surin Province resident detained by Cambodian soldiers while collecting forest products near the Thai-Cambodian border, the general noted that the Thai consulate and Foreign Ministry are expediting assistance efforts. Local military and police are also coordinating to provide rapid help.

He urged residents to inform government officials, headmen, village elders, and local military and police before collecting forest products, even though it is a traditional livelihood. This allows officials to know where Thai citizens are located—if someone goes missing without notifying authorities, discovering their fate becomes too late.

The general pledged to inspect vulnerable areas prone to conflict and deploy soldiers for oversight.

Prime Minister Visits Rice Fields to Collect Royal Seed Strain, Reaffirms Government Drought Preparedness

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul participated in collecting royal seed strain rice from a demonstration plot, announcing he plans to cultivate it on his own farm. The government has coordinated multiple agencies to implement drought mitigation measures this year, including groundwater supply programs for farmers. The visit included light-hearted interactions with locals who playfully questioned his authenticity as a northeast Thai farmer.

6d ago Khaosod

On May 13, 2569, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister visited a demonstration rice field to collect royal seed strain after completing the royal blessing ceremony. The Prime Minister joined locals in gathering the seeds into prepared bags, saying it was his first time collecting royal seed rice. When asked what he would do with the seeds, he initially avoided answering but then revealed he has his own farmland, saying "I'll plant it and let you know which field."

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government has measures in place to support farmers, anticipating drought conditions this year. He noted that multiple agencies—including the National Water Resources Office, Royal Irrigation Department, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, and Ministry of Public Works and Town & Country Planning—are coordinating efforts to supply water sources such as groundwater to farmers. Officials are planning to maximize water conservation to prevent agricultural hardship.

During the seed collection, a local resident jokingly asked the Prime Minister in the northeast Thai dialect whether he was "authentic" or a "fake northeast Thai farmer." Anutin responded humorously that he was a "fake one." Another person asked whether everyone would receive the promised 1,000 baht at month's end, but the Prime Minister did not answer the question.

Intense Firefight on Mae Ai Border: Drug Trafficking Ring Destroyed, One Killed, Large Cache of Opium and Methamphetamine Seized

Thai ranger forces engaged in a firefight with drug smugglers on the Myanmar-Thailand border in Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai, resulting in one suspect killed. The operation yielded a significant drug haul including 11 kilograms of raw opium and 250,000 methamphetamine tablets intended for distribution within Thailand.

6d ago Khaosod

On May 13, 2025, the Phrae Muang task force, under the command of Police Colonel Sathit Waiyanon and Deputy Commander Pol. Major Dechathon Saiyahut, received intelligence from the ranger news unit regarding a drug trafficking group smuggling narcotics across the Myanmar-Thailand border. Pol. Major Kitti Najay, commander of the regional military command's ranger unit, deployed ranger company 3209 under First Lieutenant Twich Pikrueang along with long-range reconnaissance teams to intercept the smugglers.

The confrontation occurred in a natural passage area near Ban Rom Thai, Moo 14, Ta Ton Subdistrict, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai. On May 12, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., rangers detected a drug trafficking group attempting to move narcotics through their patrol route. When asked to stop, the suspects opened fire, triggering an exchange that lasted until dawn at approximately 6:00 a.m.

Upon inspection of the battle site, rangers found one body equipped with a modified rifle and a modified backpack. The deceased is believed to be a foreign national who illegally entered Thailand. Near the body were three backpacks total containing approximately 250,000 methamphetamine tablets and approximately 11.2 kilograms of raw opium. The location was near a rubber plantation road, suggesting the drugs were being held for pickup by a drug lord's vehicle.

The Phrae Muang task force has intensified border patrols, operating 24-hour rotations and coordinating with local government agencies to intercept further drug trafficking operations. All seized materials have been turned over to Mae Ai Police Station for legal proceedings.
