Erling Haaland, Norway's star striker, scored twice to lead his team past Brazil 2-1 and advance to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time in the nation's history. Haaland netted goals in the 79th and 90th minutes during the round of 32 match on July 5th, while Brazil's Neymar scored a penalty in the 90+10th minute. With seven goals from four matches, Haaland now shares the Golden Boot lead with Argentina's Lionel Messi and France's Kylian Mbappé.
After the match, Haaland reflected on his performance: "I've had some of my best moments in this tournament, but each time there's an even better one that comes along."
"If I get one or two chances, they usually end up as goals. My life is about scoring. I don't really know what I do—it's just my nature. It comes down to focus, and when the opportunity comes, I know what to do."
