Gunman Shoots Palm Oil Plantation Owner Dead in Orchard
A 57-year-old palm oil plantation owner was shot dead in his orchard in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province on April 30; police suspect the assailants were acquaintances and are investigating debts and personal disputes as possible motives.
On April 30, 2569, Police Lieutenant Colonel Boonchaiya Limprajvapong, superintendent of Sichon Police Station, received a report of a shooting death discovered in a palm oil plantation in Moo 10, Sichon Subdistrict, Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Police coordinated with hospital staff and local officials to investigate at the scene.
The victim, identified as Suchet, 57 years old, was found shot multiple times with an unknown caliber firearm—one shot to the head and three shots to the left chest, with two exit wounds at the back. A red Honda motorcycle and a grass cutter were found near the body. Police cordoned off the area for forensic investigation.
Investigations revealed that Suchet worked as a palm oil plantation owner. On the day of the incident, he had gone to maintain and cut grass in his plantation during midday. In the evening, while riding his motorcycle back home, he was encountered by an unknown number of assailants at the crime scene. Preliminary evidence suggests the perpetrators may have been acquaintances who engaged him in conversation before opening fire, after which they fled immediately.
The exact cause of death remains under investigation, though authorities are pursuing multiple leads including disputes over debts and romantic entanglements. Witness statements are being collected to identify suspects and establish clear motives as the investigation continues.
