Nakhon Sawan, Wachiralaï Advance to Thailand Football Finals
Nakhon Sawan Municipality School and Wachiralaï United won the Northern Zone eight-a-side youth football qualifiers in Lampang, earning spots in the Thailand Football Championship finals alongside 96 teams that competed across the region.
The GLO Cup 2026 Northern Zone qualifiers for eight-a-side youth football concluded officially in Lampang province following matches held from June 30 to July 5, 2025. Eight regional teams—four in the U13 category and four in the U15 category—earned spots in the national championship round, along with players selected for the GLO STAR program.
Over six days of competition, 96 youth teams from across Northern Thailand participated, involving more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, and parents. The final day featured remarks from Pol. Lt. Col. Honun Sansnakum, director of the Government Lottery Office, who presented awards and congratulated advancing teams.
In the U13 final, Nakhon Sawan Municipality School defeated Prince Royale College 3-1 to clinch the Northern Zone title. In the U15 final, Wachiralaï United drew 0-0 with Thepsirin Chiang Mai School before winning the penalty shootout 3-2.
The four semifinalists from each age group advanced to the national championship:
U13 Champions: - Nakhon Sawan Municipality School (Champion) - Prince Royale College (Runner-up) - Namchuea FC (Third) - Mae Lao Witthayakom Chiang Rai FC Academy (Fourth)
U15 Champions: - Wachiralaï United (Champion) - Thepsirin Chiang Mai School (Runner-up) - Nakhon Sawan Municipality School (Third) - Lampang Province Sports School (Fourth)
Pol. Lt. Col. Honun Sansnakum stated that the GLO Cup 2026 has completed qualifiers across all seven regions, showcasing numerous Thai youth with potential for professional football careers. He highlighted that the program develops not only technical skills but also discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and resilience.
The GLO STAR program also selected 12 outstanding young players from the Northern Zone for national-level evaluation—six in U13 and six in U15 categories—offering opportunities for international development.
