Emmy Maxim Defends Daughter's Film Role Amid Online Criticism
Emmy Maxim defended her 17-year-old daughter Jiu Ling's film role at a Bangkok premiere, dismissing online criticism about intimate scenes as artistic cinematography and emphasizing the protective measures taken on set.
On July 1, 2026, at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin, Emmy Maxim attended the premiere of "SOS ก้าวผิดชีวิตเปลี่ยน" with her daughter Jiu Ling. Before the screening, both gave interviews to media, expressing pride in Jiu Ling's acting success while addressing criticism about the film's quality.
When asked if she was proud of her daughter, Emmy responded enthusiastically: "Very much so. I never expected she'd be this talented and become a leading actress like this. I'm so proud of her."
Regarding special coaching, Emmy explained: "I barely need to train her. I just stay by her side. When there are deeper scenes or intense love scenes, I'm considerate to her co-star." She noted that Jiu Ling is naturally cautious and doesn't need much direction.
On acting techniques, Emmy shared: "She does her homework, reads her lines constantly. She watches other actors as reference rather than me. She's at an age where I barely need to teach anything. If I talk too much, we argue because she doesn't listen well."
Jiu Ling is 17 years old. When asked about concerns regarding love scenes in the film, Emmy clarified: "We discussed it beforehand. I asked if she was okay with it. She said yes. It's not excessive—a love scene is just acting. If you view it as art or cinema, it's just performance. There's nothing inappropriate. A kiss is normal, like kissing a boyfriend, though she doesn't have one yet."
Jiu Ling confirmed she discusses scenes with director Kim Mon beforehand and they establish boundaries through reminders like holding hands and saying "this is our job."
When addressing criticism about the film being too intense or heavy on content, Jiu Ling responded: "I want everyone to watch it because the entire story from beginning to end is acting. The production team created all the scenes and camera angles. What might look intense is actually just cinematography."
On protecting herself during intimate scenes, Emmy revealed: "She wears three pairs of underwear, a chest guard—everything."
When asked if this was Emmy's recommendation, she laughed: "No, she naturally wears three pairs of underwear to school anyway." Emmy explained that Jiu Ling is very protective of herself and, as someone who is romantically interested in women, prefers this extra layer of protection. The interview highlighted the protective mother-daughter dynamic while defending the artistic merit of the film project.
