Shocking: Jaturong Mokjok Opens Up About Sexual Abuse Suffered to Advance Entertainment Career, a Lifelong Scar
Thai entertainer Jaturong Mokjok revealed he endured sexual abuse as a young performer to launch his career, describing it as a lifelong scar he would accept again given the same circumstances.
The story moved many listeners when entertainer Jaturong Mokjok revealed painful experiences from his youth, disclosing that he was coerced into sexual abuse in exchange for opportunities in the entertainment industry. He acknowledged it as a permanent mark on his life, yet stated that if he could turn back time, he would make the same decision.
Jaturong shared his account on Nikki Naetchat's YouTube show "Sad Bar," explaining that he had to accept sexual abuse to become who he is today as Uncle Rong. Without that incident, he might have become someone selling bean sprout noodles at a market stall. He had no connections in Bangkok's entertainment scene when he first arrived, joining a music group and learning dance from a gay instructor. He was initially a backup dancer but hadn't yet performed on stage.
He described the incident: the man told him he had to sleep with him and submit to him. The perpetrator was around 40 years old while Jaturong was only 19-20, at his physical prime. The man threatened that everyone else had already complied, and if Jaturong refused, he'd have to return home to Pathum Thani. After drinking, Jaturong felt trapped and agreed. He was terrified and frightened, thinking about when morning would come. With no money since he'd run away from home, he had no choice but to comply. At the hotel, he had to submit to everything, thinking of his parents but unable to do anything. Afterward, he was brought on stage and earned 100 baht, becoming a dancer and earning income.
When asked why he helped the man afterward, Jaturong responded: "Without him, I wouldn't have become Jaturong. If he hadn't put me on stage that day, I wouldn't have met comedians, wouldn't have become famous, and wouldn't have shown my comedy skills. I consider him to have helped me." He revealed the man still visits, coming every week asking for money, even appearing at Jaturong's game show twice or three times. When asked if he'd accept it again, Jaturong answered: "Yes, because it's inevitable. But I'll remember it my whole life—it's a permanent scar that stays with me forever."
