A 51-year-old man from Udon Thani's Chaiyawan District filed an assault complaint with police after being punched in the face by his 50-year-old ex-partner on June 29 around 2 a.m. The incident occurred when the man, intoxicated and lonely, showed up at the house uninvited. When he insisted on going upstairs despite being told to leave, he was struck and required three stitches at the local hospital.

The man initially pursued charges but later softened his stance, expressing a desire to reconcile with his ex-partner. He agreed to drop the case in exchange for 3,000 baht compensation (1,000 per stitch) and an apology. He claimed they had been dating for nearly a year since meeting during harvest season and that he merely wanted to reconnect, admitting he may have arrived late and should not have insisted on entering.

Meanwhile, the ex-partner's 70-year-old mother disputed his account, explaining that her son does not accept transgender women and warned that the man's persistent unwanted visits would result in trespassing charges. She stated her son had no choice but to act in self-defense when the man refused to leave and attempted to force his way upstairs. She indicated this was a one-time exception but future intrusions would be reported to police.

On July 1, 2026, at Sukannya Durian Garden in Ban Yaeng Sub-district, Nakhon Thai District, Deputy Governor Sarinnuratana Kotsukul Rungroj officially opened the Ban Yaeng Durian and Mixed Fruits Festival for 2026, with the District Chief of Nakhon Thai, Vice-Chairman of Phitsanulok Provincial Administrative Organization, and local government leaders in attendance.

The festival runs from July 24 to August 1, 2026, at the Agricultural Fair Market in Ban Yaeng Sub-district, supporting local farmers. Nakhon Thai District cultivates durians across more than 5,000 rai, with 2,000 rai in Ban Yaeng Sub-district. This year's production is projected to reach 3,000 tons, generating over 240 million baht in economic value. Local Ban Yaeng products will be available for sale to tourists throughout the festival period.

The Deputy Governor ceremonially cut a dark-thorn durian variety from Sukannya Garden's first harvest, officially inaugurating the festival. A 39-year-old man named Uthen, also known as Jia, who had been missing for months, was found dead inside a cement-filled tank that had been thrown into a large pond in Moo 11, Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. Rescue officials conducted underwater searches, and after six days, they discovered the tank containing the body. According to a diving team, the pond was extensive with depths of 25-30 meters, and since the tank had been submerged for over a month, sediment had covered the underwater area, making the search extremely difficult. However, officers noticed a suspicious location where air bubbles continuously rose from below, resembling gas from decomposition escaping the tank. This led them to find the tank and successfully retrieve it. The diving team had nearly given up after searching for 3-4 days without success, but these air bubbles—seemingly a signal from the deceased asking for help—ultimately led to the discovery. When rescue officials brought the tank up and opened it, they found lime and human remains inside, corroborating the statement of a witness named Bird, who admitted to being involved in concealing and disposing of the body in the pond. The victim's mother was asked to identify the remains, and she confirmed it was her son based on his clothing, necklace, and physical features. Police are preparing to request a court warrant for the arrest of a suspect named Sam, who allegedly shot and killed Uthen, as indicated by Bird's testimony.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed the club has submitted an offer to sign Julián Álvarez, the forward from rival La Liga side Atlético Madrid, saying the player also wants to join Barcelona.
