Two dogs trapped in a parked car under scorching sun at a market in Nakhon Ratchasima were rescued by residents and officials after hours in extreme heat; the owner returned and apologized, saying errands took longer than expected.
Residents rushed to rescue two dogs locked inside a car parked in the blazing sun, their tongues hanging out in distress. The owner returned and apologized, saying the errand took longer than expected.
On May 15, 2569, a concerning incident occurred at the "Outer Market" in Si Khiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. A good Samaritan recorded video of two dogs trapped inside a parked car in direct sunlight from morning until around noon in sweltering heat, with the windows opened only slightly.
The footage revealed both dogs in a weakened and distressed state due to extreme heat inside the vehicle. The white dog was lying under the driver's seat, while the brown dog was attempting to stick its head out the driver's side window with its tongue hanging out, neck drooping, and head wedged against the window. Unable to escape or retreat back inside, the dog cried out for help.
Alarmed residents and vendors in the area began spraying water on the car to temporarily cool it down. A local vendor explained they had noticed the dogs in the car for an unusually long time and, fearing heat stroke could be fatal, quickly alerted officials and helped find ways to relieve the heat, as keeping the dogs any longer could have cost them their lives.
Soon after, the Si Khiu Subdistrict Municipality's disaster prevention chief and officers arrived to investigate and forced open the car door to rescue both dogs. Officials quickly removed the white dog, but the brown dog remained stuck because its head was wedged in the window. With assistance from a motorcycle taxi driver who supported the dog's body, they carefully pushed the dog's head free from the window amid cheers from those witnessing the rescue.
When the owner returned to the car, they explained they had been away too long on errands and apologized for the incident. However, residents and video viewers criticized the behavior as inappropriate and extremely dangerous to the pet's life.
The disaster prevention chief warned the public that during hot weather, children and pets should never be left unattended in parked cars, even with windows slightly open, as temperatures inside can rise rapidly and become life-threatening within a short time.
