Shocking Results! Drug Testing of 298 Railway Staff Uncovers 2 Positive Cases
Drug testing of 298 railway staff at Bangkok Central Station revealed two positive cases—a locomotive driver and a crossing attendant—while all employees tested negative for alcohol.
May 20, 2025 – The Narcotics Control Board and Thai Railways Authority reported results from random drug and alcohol testing of railway staff at Bangkok Central Station. On May 19, a total of 157 employees underwent screening: 50 operational staff (47 male, 3 female) with no positive results, and 107 mechanical staff (all male) with no positive results. On May 20, an additional 141 employees were tested from operational divisions (72 staff including station managers, traffic controllers, and crossing attendants) and mechanical divisions (69 locomotive drivers). Combined results from the May 20 testing showed 139 negative cases and 2 positive drug tests—one locomotive driver from Bang Sai Depot and one railway crossing attendant. All 141 employees tested negative for alcohol in breath tests.
