Ammonia Leak Hospitalizes 35 In Suphan Buri

An ammonia leak at an ice factory in Khao Phra subdistrict, Derm Bang Nang Buat district, Suphan Buri province, has affected 35 people admitted to Derm Bang Nang Buat Hospital on July 8. Authorities evacuated residents, students, and teachers from Thammasat Choti School to safe areas within a one-kilometer radius. Most patients reported eye irritation, sore throat, itching, dizziness, chest tightness, and heart palpitations. Those hospitalized include one government official, 10 students, two teachers, 10 factory workers, three civilians, three disaster relief staff, and six municipal officials. Environmental and property damage assessments are ongoing by the Suphan Buri Provincial Public Health Office in coordination with local hospitals and the district health office, with fieldwork scheduled for July 9. Initial response efforts included hospital treatment for affected individuals and temporary establishment of a coordination center.
