1d ago Khaosod

At 3 p.m. on May 18, 2025, a train mechanic or assistant driver from the train involved in a collision with a bus near Asok-Din Daeng Road, close to the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station, reported to investigators at Makkasan Police Station. Wearing a hat and mask, the mechanic entered the investigation room without answering questions, accompanied by what appeared to be a State Railway of Thailand official. Previous reports indicated the mechanic had already provided information to the State Railway of Thailand during their investigation.

Police are focusing their questioning on establishing facts from the day of the incident: the mechanic's location at the time, his specific job duties and activities prior to the crash, whether the train driver was genuinely absent from the control room and where he was, based on CCTV footage, and other relevant details.

The State Railway of Thailand confirmed the train driver tested positive for both amphetamine and cannabis, with further investigation of the mechanic planned. The black box results have been reviewed, with the driver admitting to regular drug use of multiple tablets at a time, his last use being ten days before the incident.

An additional troubling detail emerged when police reviewed CCTV footage and found no evidence of the driver sitting in the control room before the collision.

Nakhon Sawan Anti-Corruption Body Finds Former Subdistrict Chief Solicited 1 Million Baht Bribe for Water Supply Contract; Wife Also Implicated

A former Nakhon Sawan subdistrict chief has been charged with soliciting a 1 million baht bribe for three water supply contracts in 2015, with his wife implicated for receiving half the payoff into her bank account.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2026, Pichet Pimpana, director of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) office in Nakhon Sawan province, announced that the NACC committee had found sufficient grounds for criminal charges against the former chief of Ban Kaeng Subdistrict Administration Organization in Muang District for soliciting benefits related to three construction project bids. The investigation revealed that on November 9, 2015, the subdistrict organization announced contractor recruitment for three large-scale village water supply construction projects: one in Village 12 of Ban Samyaek Ban Kaeng, one in Village 8 of the same area, and one in Village 1 of Ban Mon, all within Ban Kaeng Subdistrict.

Pichet stated that only one partnership company submitted a bid, with no apparent justification for proceeding, yet the former chief failed to cancel the hiring—a violation of the Interior Ministry's 2535 Regulations on Local Administration Supplies and the Department of Local Administration's electronic auction purchasing guidelines. On December 11, 2015, the former chief invited the bidder to sign a contract and demanded 1 million baht in exchange for contract signature. After negotiation, the amount was reduced to 600,000 baht. The complainant provided 300,000 baht in cash to the former chief and transferred another 300,000 baht to the account of the former chief's spouse. The former chief then declared the partnership company as the winning bidder.

Based on these actions, the NACC committee found the former chief guilty under criminal charges of soliciting or accepting property or benefits improperly while in office, and of improperly or dishonestly performing or neglecting official duties causing harm, under Penal Code Articles 149 and 157. The spouse was similarly charged with aiding and abetting these offenses.

Anutin Orders Portrait Hung at Prime Minister's Office, Breaking Tradition by Not Waiting to Become Former PM

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has hung his portrait at the Prime Minister's Office while still in office, breaking the tradition of only displaying former leaders' portraits after they leave power.

1d ago Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has broken with established protocol by having his portrait installed at the Prime Minister's Office within the Thaikhu Fah building on May 18, 2025. According to reports, the portrait of Anutin, who also serves as Interior Minister, has been hung on the walls of the Prime Minister's Office. This marks a departure from convention, as the Prime Minister's Office traditionally only displays portraits of former prime ministers after they have left office. However, Anutin's portrait was placed while he is still actively serving as Prime Minister, rather than waiting until after his tenure ends.

Uncle Bob Ready to Support Tray Scot: If You're Struggling, Come Find Me for a Warm Embrace

Uncle Bob offers emotional support and healing guidance to Tray Scot following his disclosure of family abuse, drawing on his own trauma experience to encourage millions of listeners that their suffering is finally being heard.

1d ago Khaosod

If you're really struggling, come find me! Uncle Bob is ready to support Tray Scot with a warm embrace. He reveals that people won't speak about shameful things unless they've hit rock bottom, and emphasizes that what was once unheard is now reaching millions of listeners offering countless encouragement.

Following Tray Scot's account of family abuse and mistreatment, other survivors have bravely come forward to share their own painful experiences on social media. Tray has been commenting supportively on their posts of courage.

Uncle Bob, who previously shared his own experience of being sexually assaulted by a driver in childhood—an trauma that forced an abortion and destroyed his life—gave an interview on Phutta Talk channel regarding Tray Scot. He offered compassion and warm embraces, saying he's willing to support Tray's healing if desired.

Uncle Bob expressed deep empathy for Tray Scot, noting that people don't speak about shameful matters unless they've reached their breaking point.

Uncle Bob stated: "I empathize with you because what you said went unheard. Don't misunderstand—don't mix my story with yours. My story is mine, and I only understand a fragment of what you've shared. But I understand the frustration of a child who has no one listening to them."

He continued: "What you said went unheard, but today millions listen to you and millions encourage you. Please let that encouragement settle in your heart knowing many understand you."

Uncle Bob discussed the audio clip Tray released, noting that human nature prevents people from speaking about shameful things unless truly desperate. When someone finally speaks about such matters, it means they've reached their limit and need to be heard. Both speaker and listener feel the shame. That Tray recorded and released this clip means he's reached his breaking point.

He compared it to a child stomping their feet crying "Do you see me? Do you see me?"—they wouldn't speak about this unless desperate. It's not like announcing an achievement. It's not something one wants to share, but rather something a child desperately needs adults to hear and understand.

Uncle Bob is ready to support Tray Scot with a warm embrace waiting.

Uncle Bob genuinely wants to invite Tray to healing work. Our voices are pure wave energy, a power that helps shift what's stuck inside us. Once it shifts, our bodies and spirits feel lighter, our minds become calmer, allowing us to move forward with clarity.

To heal trauma, we must resolve the patterns within ourselves. From what Uncle Bob has experienced, spirituality has helped him find resolution.

Regarding emotional guidance, from his healing experience, he's not overstepping Tray's boundaries or exploiting this moment. Opening one's heart might aid healing. If Tray is ready and willing to engage in this healing work together, Uncle Bob is willing.

"From someone who carried this resentment for decades, it destroyed my relationships, my body. I wasted so much time on unprocessed resentment. I can't advise you on anything except this: if you're really struggling, come find me. Let's talk privately, it's better."

"Come find me. I'm not saying I'm strong. I'm saying I have a warm embrace waiting. And I promise I won't...

The Thai sports world is in mourning following the death of Tan Chanokchon Limpinpetch, a 27-year-old national ice hockey player, from septicemia. Team manager Dr. Suwanna Silpaacha announced the sad news, expressing heartfelt condolences to the Limpinpetch family.

According to reports, on May 15, Chanokchon drove from Chumphon Province to Bangkok and checked into a home in Bang Bua Thong. At 3 a.m. on May 16, he developed a high fever and took medication that brought the temperature down by 5 a.m. He went out that morning to queue for a watch at EmQuartier mall, but his condition remained poor. He was admitted to Kasemrad Hospital on the way home.

On the morning of May 17 at 8 a.m., Chanokchon's condition deteriorated severely with cardiac arrest. Medical staff used a heart pump to sustain him until noon but were unable to save him. Physicians determined the cause of death was septicemia. His body underwent autopsy and will be prepared for a Christian funeral service in Chumphon Province.

M.L. Kritsada Kaemasan, president of the Thai Ice Hockey Association, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of an important athlete with a bright future and a key player for the national team. Chanokchon was regarded as a model athlete with discipline in training and body maintenance for competition.

"The association and all our national team players have wonderful memories of Tan because he was well-behaved, kind-hearted, and easy to get along with, making him beloved by teammates," M.L. Kritsada said.

Chanokchon first joined the senior national team at age 20 during the 2019 SEA Games and continued through the 2025 SEA Games, which Thailand hosted. Breaking! Constitutional Court Accepts Petition on 400 Billion Baht Borrowing Decree; Constitutionality in Question, Cabinet Ordered to Respond Within 7 Days

Thailand's Constitutional Court accepted a petition challenging a 400 billion baht government borrowing decree for energy crisis relief, ordering the cabinet to respond within seven days on whether it violates the Constitution.

1d ago Khaosod

Breaking! The Constitutional Court has accepted a petition challenging a royal decree authorizing the Ministry of Finance to borrow 400 billion baht to address the energy crisis and facilitate the country's energy transition. The court has ordered the cabinet to submit clarifications and supporting documents within seven days. On May 18, 2025, judges considered whether the Decree Granting Authority to the Ministry of Finance to Borrow Funds to Address Impacts of the Energy Crisis and Facilitate the Country's Energy Transition, B.E. 2569, complies with Article 172, Paragraph 1 of the Constitution (Case No. 11/2569). A total of 133 members of parliament—constituting at least one-fifth of all parliamentary members—filed the petition through the Speaker, arguing that the decree violates Article 172, Paragraph 1 of the Constitution. They requested the Constitutional Court to rule on the matter pursuant to Article 173, Paragraph 1. After reviewing the petition and supporting documents, the court determined the case meets constitutional requirements under Article 173, Paragraph 1 and the Organic Act on the Constitutional Court's Procedures, B.E. 2561, Section 7(1). The court has therefore accepted the petition for adjudication. Exercising authority under Section 27, Paragraph 3 of the Organic Act, the court ordered the cabinet to prepare a statement addressing specific points raised by the court and submit copies of all relevant documents within seven days of receiving the court's notice.

Train Driver and Crossing Guard Face Detention Hearing; Police Oppose Bail as Suspects Seek Property Bond for Temporary Release

A train operator and crossing guard face detention after a freight train struck a public bus near Makkasan Airport Link on May 16, killing and injuring multiple people; police oppose bail, citing incomplete investigations and flight risk.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2025, at the Criminal Court on Ratchdamri Road, investigators from Makkasan Police Station brought train operator Siyamphon and state railway employee Uten, assigned as a crossing guard near the railway tracks, before the court requesting detention on charges of negligence resulting in another person's death, serious injury to another person, and bodily harm to another person.

The incident occurred on May 16, 2025, at 3:36 p.m. when police received a report of a train collision with a public bus causing deaths and injuries near Makkasan Airport Link railway station. A freight train traveling from Laem Chabang to Bangkok's Bang Sue district, operated by Siyamphon, struck Route 206 public bus driven by Laphit, which was traveling along Asok-Din Daeng Road from the Rama 9 intersection. When the bus was stopped across the railway tracks, Siyamphon's train approached from the left side of the bus and struck its left side, causing the bus to swerve and collide with another parked vehicle, resulting in property damage, injuries, and fatalities.

Investigation found that Uten, the crossing guard stationed at the location, failed to raise the barrier to signal the train to stop, preventing Siyamphon from seeing the stop signal and leading to the collision with the parked bus.

Investigators determined the accident resulted from negligence by Siyamphon, Laphit, and Uten, charging both under Criminal Code Articles 59, 291, 300, and 390 for negligence causing death, serious injury, and bodily harm. Both suspects denied the charges during questioning.

Investigators requested detention during May 18-29, 2025, as investigations are incomplete, requiring statements from 30 witnesses and fingerprint analysis results. The investigation team, victims, and key witnesses opposed temporary release due to the serious nature of the charges and flight risks. The court approved detention, with Siyamphon and Uten filing property bond requests for temporary release currently under court consideration.

Democrat Party Demands Election Commission Clarify Ballot Tampering Prevention System for Bangkok and Pattaya Elections

The Democrat Party is demanding the Election Commission clarify its ballot security system for Bangkok's June 28 local elections, citing concerns that previous anti-fraud measures may have compromised voter secrecy in past polls.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, Democrat Party deputy spokesperson Nattakarn Chuchanah called on the Election Commission to clarify its anti-fraud system for Bangkok and Pattaya ballots, citing concerns about repeating issues from the February 2019 parliamentary elections. Election Commission Secretary General Sawang Boonmee announced that ballot papers for Bangkok and Pattaya would include anti-fraud measures, but in a different format from the previous parliamentary elections which used barcodes and QR codes—a matter currently under Constitutional Court review.

The party is demanding clear details about the local election ballot security measures, particularly for Bangkok's June 28 elections, to assure the public of fair and honest voting in accordance with secret ballot principles. Nattakarn cited Section 10 of the Local Government Election Act B.E. 2562, which explicitly mandates that elections must use direct and secret voting methods—a fundamental principle of democratic elections.

The Democrats are asking the Election Commission to publicly explain what the anti-fraud measures entail and whether adequate safeguards exist to prevent anyone from linking ballots to specific voters, warning that without proper clarification, legal disputes similar to those from the previous parliamentary elections could resurface.

Enough Is Enough! Employees Shocked as Company Hands Out Cheap Gift Bags Instead of Year-End Salary Raises

An employee's viral post exposed workplace frustration after receiving a cheap gift bag containing a water bottle, pen, and candy instead of a year-end salary raise amid rising living costs.

1d ago Khaosod

An employee shared a shocking experience after their company distributed cheap gift bags instead of providing year-end salary increases. Opening the bag revealed even greater disappointment. As living costs surge across all sectors—food, fuel, and daily expenses—many employees eagerly anticipate salary raises, no matter how modest, as crucial morale support during difficult times.

However, a viral online drama erupted when an employee shared an experience that left many stunned. They received a cheap gift bag from their company instead of a year-end salary adjustment.

The story was posted on Reddit's r/mildlyinfuriating forum, where the poster attached photos of the gift bag they received. While it appeared ordinary at first glance, opening it revealed significant disappointment.

Many Reddit users expressed disbelief that this "actually happened," as it seemed more like contempt for employees than appreciation.

The bag contained a water bottle, a pen, a single piece of candy, crackers, and a small unidentifiable item that could be a toy or measuring tape device. Altogether, many felt the contents were "far too little" compared to expectations.

The poster wrote beneath the image: "Yes, this is everything that's in this bag," reinforcing the disappointment and becoming a widely discussed phrase among netizens.

Although the company name wasn't disclosed, the incident drew heavy criticism. Many viewed it as inappropriate recognition, especially during a time of rising living costs.

After the post went viral, nearly 300 comments flooded in, mostly mocking the gesture and sharing similar experiences. Some commenters said, "If this is what we're getting, it'd be better to give nothing at all."

One comment questioned harshly: "Are you people in kindergarten?" while others sympathized with managers who had to distribute such inadequate gifts while pretending to be pleased.

Additionally, another user shared a similar experience from working at a company that distributed comparable gift bags during Christmas, while another revealed an extreme case where senior executives received bonuses in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, while employees received only a single cookie.

Ultimately, this gift bag drama continued to draw criticism online, with many viewing it as a reflection of workplace inequality. It became another hot topic discussed extensively across global social media platforms.

A customer ditched a 50-baht pork rice bowl after finding the meat unnaturally red and unappetizing, sparking online debate about whether excessive food coloring was used in the dish.

1d ago Khaosod

More frightening than appetizing! A customer couldn't stomach an unnaturally red pork rice bowl purchased for 50 baht, questioning whether it followed proper recipe standards and ultimately discarding it. On May 18, 2025, TikTok user @artsniper5 posted about their unsettling encounter with the vibrant red pork, which looked so unappetizing they didn't dare eat it. In the video, a neighboring shop owner showed the bowl containing normal ingredients—rice, red pork, and green onions—but the pork's color was so intensely red and off-putting that it looked more frightening than edible, forcing the customer to throw it away. After the post went viral, many commenters pointed out that this was a standard pork rice bowl, but someone had simply added too much food coloring, resulting in an unappetizing appearance.
