Yogurt Clears the Air with PK, Resolves Misunderstandings and Reaches Good Understanding Between Both Parties

Thai actress Yogurt Nathatchacha Bunyaprachom has publicly announced a resolution with her ex-husband Piyavat Chemmpeach regarding past misunderstandings, stating both parties have reached a good understanding and matters have been concluded amicably. The actress revealed the reconciliation took approximately two years and declined to provide specific details, emphasizing that she feels relieved and can now truly start fresh.

8 May Khaosod

Actress Yogurt Nathatchacha Bunyaprachom recently posted on her personal social media addressing matters concerning her ex-husband, stating: "Regarding past events between myself and Piyavat Chemmpeach, there were some points where we previously misunderstood each other. Both parties have now come to a good understanding and have concluded matters amicably." The post generated significant attention, leaving many wondering what prompted the sudden message.

On May 7th, Yogurt visited Termsuuk Studio to shoot promotional posters for the series "THREE MAN DOWN - Gentlemen of Blood, Color of Youth." During an interview, she addressed the matter:

When asked if the post was meant to clarify something, Yogurt explained: "It's exactly as posted. Previously, there may have been points where we misunderstood or didn't align. Bottom line is, as I posted, we now have a good understanding and have concluded things amicably."

When asked why she decided to post and if there was any agreement: "I thought the timing was right. As you may know, I never previously said whether things were concluded or how they ended. This is the conclusion—it's finished."

Regarding the time span: "About two years since then, I feel very relieved. People used to ask if it was resolved and when, but now I feel the word 'finished' truly means I can start fresh. This moment is the most appropriate."

When pressed on whether this referred to financial matters or relationship matters: "I'd rather not get into details. The point is, it's truly finished now and concluded well."

On whether this involved legal proceedings or court orders: "I'd prefer not to elaborate. It doesn't affect just me alone. Let's focus on the outcome—it's concluded and ended well. Both parties agreed to post so society understands in the same direction."

When asked if they discussed this face-to-face or through intermediaries: "We did talk." She concluded with optimism: "As I said, the word 'finished' and 'starting fresh anew' now feels most appropriate for this moment."

13.2 Million Welfare Card Holders Must Re-register on May 25: Here's What You Need to Know

Thailand's 13.2 million welfare card holders must re-register on May 25 to merge with a new government subsidy program that provides up to 1,000 baht monthly to eligible low-income families.

8 May Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanpong announced that the government will open new registrations for 13.2 million state welfare card holders on May 25, 2569, merging them with the Thailand Helps Thailand Plus program. Each person can hold only one type of benefit—either a welfare card or the subsidy program. The Finance Ministry will review eligibility using existing data and the standard criteria of annual income not exceeding 100,000 baht, plus asset requirements. The initiative aims to include previously excluded poor families while filtering out those whose economic status has improved.

Thailand Helps Thailand Plus is divided into two phases:

Phase 1 (June-July): Eligible participants receive 1,000 baht per month for 2 months (government covers 60%, beneficiary pays 40%). Welfare card holders receive their regular 300 baht plus 700 baht government subsidy, totaling 1,000 baht for 2 months.

Phase 2 (July-August): New welfare card data begins. Existing cardholders must re-register for verification since the last registration was 5 years ago. Those who qualify receive an additional 700 baht per month for 2 months. Those who don't qualify can still register to receive 60% government subsidy and pay 40% themselves.

34-Year-Old Man Arrested for Luring 15-Year-Old Girl, Recording Secret Video and Threatening to Release It

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Samut Prakan for luring a 15-year-old girl he met online, secretly recording intimate videos, and threatening to release them when she tried to end the relationship.

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2569, Police Colonel Pattana Bupasuwan ordered officers to arrest Thanesh (surname withheld), 34, at a food shop on Sukhumvit Road in Klong Duan, Bang Bo district, Samut Prakan province, based on a warrant issued by Thanyaburi Provincial Court on April 27, 2569. He faces charges of luring a minor aged 15-18 away from guardians for indecent acts, with consent from the minor.

The case began in November 2568 when the victim's father reported to Thanyaburi Police Station that his 15-year-old daughter had met the suspect through the online game "Free Fire." They later communicated via Facebook. The suspect subsequently arranged meetings at a shopping mall in Rangsit, then took her to a resort in Lam Luka, Pathum Thani province, where he recorded intimate videos without her knowledge.

In June 2568, the suspect took the victim to his workplace in Bang Bo district and recorded videos again. When the victim tried to end the relationship in August 2568, the suspect sent threatening messages demanding they meet, warning he would release the videos online if she refused. Frightened, she told her father, who filed a police report.

After investigation, officers arrested the suspect. During interrogation, he admitted to knowing the victim through the online game and developing a relationship. He confessed to recording videos during multiple meetings in both Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan. He acknowledged threatening to release the videos when she wanted to end the relationship but claimed it was only a threat and he never actually distributed them. He has been transferred to Thanyaburi Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Sawaeng Clarifies Bangkok and Pattaya Ballots Have No Barcode, Emphasizes Fraud Prevention System and Retroactive Verification Available

Election officials clarified that Bangkok and Pattaya ballots lack barcodes by design and emphasized robust fraud prevention through monitoring and retroactive ballot-level verification capabilities. The Election Commission is conducting in

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2026, at Centara Life Central World Convention Center in Bangkok, Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary of the Election Commission (EC), held a press conference following a preparatory meeting for elections of Bangkok Metropolitan Council members, Bangkok governor, Pattaya City Council members, and Pattaya mayor. He reported that the EC has been continuously preparing and conducting drills in coordination between the EC offices in Bangkok and Pattaya to ensure polling committees work in alignment and avoid errors, given the expected high public participation in both elections.

Sawaeng noted that Bangkok has over 6,000 polling units requiring substantial personnel, but he expressed confidence in Bangkok officials' readiness to serve as polling committee members. Regarding ballot design, he explained that local election ballots lack barcodes unlike parliamentary ballots because they are different election types. The EC continuously prints local ballots since municipal and subdistrict elections occur regularly to ensure adequate ballot supply.

Concerning campaign monitoring, Sawaeng stated that national and local election laws apply the same standards. The EC is currently tracking candidate movements both on the ground and through social media, with no irregularities detected. Despite competitive races in Pattaya, he believed the easily monitored nature of the area—with oversight from media, public, and relevant agencies—would encourage candidates to follow the law.

The EC Secretary emphasized that the primary goal is ensuring elections are conducted honestly and fairly, regardless of who wins. He noted that the election system is designed to allow public participation in monitoring official conduct, with full retroactive verification capability down to individual ballots.

When asked if polling committee training would be stricter this time, given previous problems stemmed from committee errors, Sawaeng acknowledged that past elections and current ones serve as lessons. Most problems resulted from polling committees' misunderstanding of their duties. Training will begin over a month in advance, with particular emphasis on polling unit heads understanding regulations in detail to make proper judgments and listen to public complaints, as citizens also participate in election verification.

Asked if polling committees need reminders about properly maintaining equipment to prevent political misuse, Sawaeng countered by asking what "misuse" meant. He noted that equipment management is clearly regulated with continuous staff instructions. While unable to guarantee zero errors, all irregularities can be retroactively verified to individual ballot level, and he requested public cooperation to ensure transparent and credible elections.

Election Commission Secretary General Confident Bangkok Governor and Pattaya Mayor Elections Will Proceed Smoothly, Expects Intense Competition

The Election Commission chief expressed confidence that upcoming Bangkok governor and Pattaya mayor elections will run smoothly, emphasizing that fair voting requires cooperation between officials, candidates, and citizens to prevent irregu

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2025, at the Centara Life Centrale Rayong Convention Center, Sawang Boonmee, Secretary General of the Election Commission (EC), chaired an opening ceremony for a preparatory meeting on organizing elections for Bangkok Metropolitan Assembly members, the Bangkok governor, Pattaya City Council members, and the Pattaya mayor (in cases of completing a full term).

Sawang stated that achieving fair and orderly elections requires both integrity and proper procedure. Every election faces problems and obstacles, but the EC sets high standards aimed at upholding democratic principles—that elections belong to the people, are conducted by the people, and benefit the people. The commission emphasized that elections are not solely the EC's responsibility; they are a collaborative effort involving citizens, as some voters serve as polling unit commissioners without EC involvement. In previous elections, over 1.6 million volunteers participated in this capacity.

The secretary general noted that the EC, candidates, and voters all have equal visibility and ability to verify election processes. This transparency is intentional—since the commission cannot monitor every polling unit simultaneously, public oversight is essential. All transactions are verifiable, and no votes can be distorted. Vote buying remains a shared responsibility among candidates, political parties, and the EC to prevent and investigate.

Sawang stressed that if citizens understand their civic duties, elections will succeed. Polling commissioners cannot be guaranteed to be perfect, but the system can enforce legal compliance. Candidates and political parties should know the law better than ordinary citizens, yet some choose to violate it. Citizens who accept vote-buying money also bear responsibility. Electoral success depends on everyone recognizing the stakes for the nation's future.

The secretary general addressed complaints that arise after 6 p.m. on election night, noting three factors determine victory: first, the capabilities of candidates competing equally on the same field (winners typically possess seven key qualities); second, the rules, which sometimes favor certain parties; and third, the commissioners, who maintain equal procedures. If pressure is applied to commissioners, they follow procedures as defined by law. For fair competition, candidates must assess whether they possess the necessary capabilities and whether the rules are equitable.

Tears Flow Throughout Ceremony as Bride's Daughter Calls Groom 'Dad' for the First Time

A bride surprised her new husband during their wedding ceremony when a recorded message from her daughter revealed she was finally calling him "Dad" for the first time, moving guests to tears.

8 May Khaosod

An emotional moment unfolded at a wedding in the United States when the bride's daughter called her stepfather 'Dad' for the first time during the ceremony, revealing she had felt a genuine father-daughter connection all along but was too shy to say it.

The touching scene happened as groom Marcos Padilla waited for bride Jessica to walk down the aisle when a voice message suddenly played—a recording from Zoey Aviles, Jessica's daughter, addressed to Marcos.

In the message, Zoey shared that since age two, she had always felt Marcos was like a real father to her. As she grew older, however, she became embarrassed and afraid to call him 'Dad' until that special day when she decided to overcome her hesitation and speak from the heart: "Hello Dad. When I was little, I saw you as part of our family. As I grew up, I was scared to call you Dad, but now I'm not afraid anymore, because you truly are my dad."

Her simple yet heartfelt words brought many guests to tears. Zoey also thanked Marcos for always caring for and loving her and her mother, and when he heard her message, Marcos couldn't hold back his own tears, crying openly during the ceremony as Zoey also wept.

Jessica later revealed that the voice message was a special surprise she and her daughter had prepared specifically for her new husband, as Zoey had wanted to call Marcos 'Dad' for a long time but hadn't dared to say it directly.

Marcos has cared for Zoey since 2017 and has been present for every important moment in her life, and their bond gradually grew to be truly like father and daughter.

Zoey's first time calling him 'Dad' during the wedding ceremony left a lasting impression on all the guests, with many admitting they couldn't hold back their tears. After the story spread online, numerous netizens were moved by the love and closeness of this family and sent warm congratulations to the couple and their daughter.

Officials Face Charges Over Funeral Aid Association Collapse, Massive Financial Losses

8 May Khaosod

Residents from nine provinces filed complaints with police seeking charges against local registrars and committee members of a funeral aid association over its collapse and internal corruption that left citizens unable to receive funeral assistance benefits, resulting in losses totaling billions of baht. The complaint was filed on May 8, 2025 at the Central Investigation Police Bureau (CIB), led by lawyer Rannarong Kaewpetch, chairman of the Justice Recovery Foundation, and accompanied by Krit Silpajai, a Rayong provincial MP from the People's Party, representing affected villagers from Buriram, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Maha Sarakham, Nakhon Ratchasima, Rayong, Udon Thani, Sisaket, and Amnat Charoen provinces.

Victims are seeking charges against local registrars and funeral association committee members for allowing the organization to collapse due to internal fraud, leaving residents without funeral assistance payments worth tens of millions of baht in damages. A victim from Nakhon Ratchasima displayed photos of deceased relatives and revealed that his grandmother had died two years ago but he never received a single baht of benefits despite depositing hundreds of thousands of baht into the association. He was forced to borrow money from others to cover funeral expenses and now struggles with debt repayment, while the association claims to be closed with no accountability.

A victim from Udon Thani stated he has battled this problem for over four years, with multiple government agencies aware of the irregularities but taking no action. Provincial governors have issued no clear directives on which agency should oversee funeral associations. He appealed to Deputy Police Commander Jarun Kiatphan to investigate, particularly the local registrars who are administrative leaders, to determine whether they conducted proper oversight of these associations as required by law.

Victims from Maha Sarakham, specifically Wapi Pathumthani District, reported approximately 480 people receiving no assistance with combined losses exceeding 1.4 billion baht. Despite appealing to five provincial agencies, no serious resolution has been achieved, leaving them feeling denied justice.

Krit Silpajai, representing Rayong residents, noted that problems emerged since 2565 (2022) with at least three associations collapsing, causing over one billion baht in damages affecting tens of thousands of people. The province has not seriously addressed this issue. Observers suggest the problem persists due to a patronage system and connections between local and national politicians and the registrars, resulting in inadequate oversight and neglect that has caused extensive public harm.

All victims emphasized they filed complaints with the CIB because they trust the Central Investigation Police Bureau, having been unable to rely on local agencies. They plan to submit the case to the Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare and the Parliamentary Committee on Law for further investigation. Rannarong stated that today represents seeking justice for the deceased and their families, as despite multiple association collapses, the committee members and local registrar administrators face no accountability.

Tourist Police Bust Illegal Chinese Web Series Production in Chiang Mai, Arrest 8 Producers and Actors

Tourist police arrested eight Chinese nationals in Chiang Mai after busting an illegal web series production operating without permits or work authorization in a residential property.

8 May Khaosod

Tourist police raided a film production site in Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai on May 8, after receiving a tip about Chinese nationals illegally filming a web series inside a residential property. Officers discovered a Chinese crew and Thai interpreters shooting without proper permits or government oversight. The individuals had entered as tourists and lacked work authorization. During questioning, the suspects admitted to being producers and actors filming a "vertical series," a trending format, and selected Chiang Mai because of its famous tourism appeal to Chinese visitors. Authorities informed the suspects that all film production in Thailand must comply with the Film and Video Act of 2008, requiring government supervision and committee approval of scripts to prevent misleading content or damage to the country's image. Violations carry penalties up to 1 million baht. All eight Chinese nationals were taken into custody and referred to Hang Dong Police Station on charges of unauthorized foreign work. The unauthorized film production matter will be referred to the Film and Video Committee under the Department of Tourism for further legal proceedings.
