Tragic Pickup Truck Collision at Khao Noi Intersection in Chumphon Leaves 6 Dead, 3 Injured
A head-on collision between two pickup trucks at a five-way intersection in Chumphon province killed six people, including a 2-year-old child, and injured three others on May 23.
A worker-transport pickup truck collided with another pickup truck at the Khao Noi five-way intersection in Chumphon, resulting in six fatalities and three injuries, including a 2-year-old child.
Rescue personnel responded to the incident at 12:08 PM on May 23, 2569 at the secondary road near Khao Noi five-way intersection heading toward Khao Thalu in Na Sak subdistrict, Sui district, Chumphon province. At the scene, authorities found a green capped pickup truck (license plate บถ 9280, Chumphon) that had veered off the road into a grass embankment, and a Bangkok-registered caged pickup truck (license plate 3 ฒส 6509) with a badly damaged front bumper. A total of nine people were found to be injured or deceased: three injured and six killed.
The six deceased include Mr. Banrong, 65, and Ms. Chirawun, 60, both passengers in the caged pickup truck. The other four fatalities were passengers in the green pickup truck: Mr. Natchai Rodbunma, 22; Ms. Sumintra Rueankong, 24; Ms. Nalinit Rodbunma, 2; and Ms. Pabhawarint, 18. The bodies were transported to Sui Hospital for processing.
Of the three injured, two are in critical condition: an 18-year-old male and a 22-year-old male. The third injured person is a 23-year-old female with chest pain. All three were admitted to Sui Hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
