1d ago Khaosod

A well-known pork hotpot restaurant owner in Lat Yai Subdistrict, Muang District, Kanchanaburi is seeking justice for his 20-year-old server who was sexually assaulted by a police officer (Ror Damnern) through unwanted touching. The incident occurred on the evening of May 19, 2025. Following the assault, the owner brought the victim to file a complaint at Lat Yai Police Station as evidence.

On May 21, 2025, restaurant owner Phanupong Taetvong and the victim, referred to as "Bee," met with investigators at Lat Yai Police Station to provide additional testimony. A deputy traffic superintendent from Muang Kanchanaburi Police Station—who is the superior of the accused officer—also attended, but the accused officer did not appear.

Phanupong stated that the officer who committed the assault did not show up to meet with the victim as he had expected. Only the deputy superintendent attended, and there was no attempt at reconciliation whatsoever, leaving him and the victim deeply disappointed.

Since the incident, the accused officer has never contacted the restaurant or the victim to apologize, demonstrating no remorse. As a result, Phanupong and the victim are prepared to pursue this case fully and hope that despite the perpetrator being a police officer, the police force will handle the investigation fairly and deliver complete justice to the victim.

On May 21, 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Thongpreud Sirisukha, commander of Highway Police Division 3, ordered officers led by Colonel Suriya Puang Sambat and other senior police to conduct a raid on a health spa in Mab Yang Phro subdistrict, Pluak Daeng district, Rayong province, following complaints that the establishment was secretly engaged in prostitution while publicly advertising massage services.

Investigators found that staff members were offering special "body-to-body" massage services and explicitly proposing sexual intercourse with clients for 4,500 baht per 50-minute session. Two Vietnamese women were discovered preparing to engage in sex work. A search of the two-unit commercial building revealed that the second and third floors had been modified into over 10 service rooms equipped with beds and supplies, along with condoms and lubricant.

Eight suspects of Chinese, Myanmar, and Vietnamese nationality were arrested on charges of human trafficking, illegal immigration, and foreign worker violations. All female workers were screened under Thailand's National Referral Mechanism (NRM) for human trafficking victims, though none were found to be victims of trafficking.

Charges were filed under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act B.E. 2539, the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, and regulations governing foreign worker management.

Prachuap Khiri Khan MP Urges Agriculture Minister to Urgently Address Water Hyacinth Crisis Killing Fish Cages Worth Nearly 4 Million Baht

Water hyacinth choking the Prachuap River has decimated ruby fish farms in Prachuap Khiri Khan, killing thousands of oxygen-starved fish with damages exceeding 3.9 million baht, prompting an MP to demand urgent government intervention.

1d ago Khaosod

At 12:35 p.m. on May 21, a reporter in Prachuap Khiri Khan documented a critical water hyacinth crisis choking the Prachuap River, creating stagnant conditions with severely depleted oxygen levels. Fish farmers in Ban Sai district saw their ruby fish cages decimated as oxygen-starved fish floated to the surface and died en masse, with total damages exceeding 3.9 million baht. MP Amnuay Vilavaloey from Prachuap Khiri Khan District 1 of the Bhumjaithai Party brought the urgent matter to parliament, calling on the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry to aggressively combat the water hyacinth problem and provide immediate relief to affected fish farmers.

Amnuay revealed the severity through aerial photographs showing the Prachuap River blanketed by dense mats of water hyacinth stretching for dozens of kilometers from Mueang Prachuap through Ban Sai districts. Despite provincial efforts, the massive volume of vegetation combined with privately-owned riverbanks has hindered irrigation department mechanized removal operations. High tidal conditions have worsened the situation by forcing water hyacinth further upstream into impassable blockages.

"Our people are suffering greatly, especially the fish farmers," Amnuay stated. "The fish are dying en masse because dissolved oxygen levels have plummeted to just 1.5 milligrams per liter—a critical level where aquatic life cannot survive."

Initial damage assessments identified two subdistricts and six villages in Ban Sai affected across Bang Phluwang and Bang Krachao subdistricts. The crisis has impacted 109 farmers, destroying over 2,895 square meters of fish cage area with cumulative damage reaching approximately 3,942,000 baht.

Amnuay, a five-term MP, emphasized this recurs annually, harming both raw drinking water quality and agricultural productivity while exacerbating seasonal flooding. He urged the Agriculture Minister to take decisive action based on the late King Rama IX's wisdom that "water is life," to restore vitality to both farmers and the Prachuap River.

Governor Veeraphun Deeawn has already mobilized emergency responses and ordered Ban Sai district to compile damage reports to declare the area a disaster zone for emergency fund allocation to compensate affected farmers.

Palace: Severe infection affects multiple organs of Princess Bajrakitiyabha

A severe, uncontrolled infection affecting Princess Bajrakitiyabha's vital organs has continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment at a Bangkok hospital since December 2022, the Royal Household Bureau said Thursday.

1d ago Khaosod

The Royal Household Bureau on Thursday said a severe and uncontrolled infection has affected multiple vital organs of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.

In its seventh statement on the princess's condition issued on 21 May, the bureau said doctors treating the princess at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital had detected an abdominal infection since April 2026 caused by inflammation of the large intestine.

The statement said the infection caused unstable symptoms including low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat and abnormal blood clotting.

Despite continuous life-support treatment for her lungs and kidneys, along with multiple antibiotics and medications to stabilize blood pressure and heart rhythm, the princess's condition has continued to deteriorate, according to the statement.

"The condition indicates a severe infection that remains uncontrolled, affecting the function of multiple vital organs," the Royal Household Bureau said.

Doctors are continuing to provide full treatment and closely monitor her condition.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha has been receiving treatment at the hospital since 15 December 2022 after losing consciousness due to a heart condition.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha, 47, is the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Soamsawali. She graduated in law from Thammasat University before obtaining advanced law degrees from Cornell University.

The princess has worked in diplomacy and law, previously serving as Thailand's ambassador to Austria and as a public prosecutor. She also represented Thailand at the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, focusing on issues including crime prevention, criminal justice, human rights and migration.

1d ago Khaosod

A 40-year-old man known as "Bird" Nuanlap, a former army sergeant, used a kitchen knife to repeatedly stab his 66-year-old father, retired Police Colonel Cheerasak Nuanlap, on May 21 at their homes in Khao Chai Son district, Phatthalung province. The father was found with severe blood loss and multiple stab wounds, including a deep cut to the throat, and remains in critical condition at Phatthalung Hospital. Police apprehended the suspect at the scene, where investigators found large pools of blood in the kitchen and a trail of blood leading from the house.

During initial questioning, the suspect claimed the argument started when his father attacked him first with the kitchen knife during a dispute over transferring his name on the property registration. The son stated he needed to change his residency status to secure employment in Phuket. He alleged that during the struggle, he managed to wrestle the knife away and stabbed his father in retaliation. The suspect remained calm after arrest and expressed remorse over the incident.

The suspect told police that tensions at home had been high since his father's retirement in 2020, with frequent arguments and allegations that his father had physically abused his mother. Neighbors reported the son had previously served in the military but was discharged, and had recently returned to the family home after employment issues in Phuket. Some locals claimed he occasionally displayed erratic behavior and spoke to himself, and had recently been involved with narcotics.

Investigating Officer Second Lieutenant Pun Ruengyiang of Khao Chai Son Police Station announced charges of causing serious bodily harm to a parent. The case is being processed according to law, with the suspect remaining in custody pending further legal proceedings.

Lawyer On reveals LINE chat evidence of plot to rig senator selection, believes attempt to derail case

Lawyer Pattrapong Suphakson submitted LINE chat evidence to Thailand's Election Commission alleging a coordinated plot to rig the 2567 senator selection by locking votes for medical professionals, warning the case faces attempts at obstruct

1d ago Khaosod

On May 21, 2569, at the Election Commission (EC) office, lawyer and political activist Pattrapong Suphakson, known as 'Lawyer On' from Buriram, along with 20 alternate senators, submitted evidence of LINE application conversations and financial trails to the EC and filed a letter demanding justice and updates on the senator selection rigging case.

Pattrapong stated that the evidence demonstrates a coordinated plan during the 2567 senator selection to lock voting and handpick candidates from Group 4, representing medical professionals, with approximately 10 members who communicated and planned through LINE before the selection. The scheme allegedly involved a key figure—a doctor from the Ministry of Public Health—and notably, nearly all group members were subsequently elected as senators as planned.

"The reason I came today to submit evidence and letters to the EC is because I personally believe there are efforts to derail this case, preventing the perpetrators from facing punishment within the next approximately four weeks," Pattrapong said.

Former senate candidate Komet Kerdsamwat stated that he believes the senator selection rigging genuinely occurred, citing financial trail evidence beginning from the district-level registration process in Surat Thani Province. He noted irregular financial connections between district-level candidates extending to three provincial-level candidates, all affiliated with the blue-colored political party group.

Police Lance Corporal Caught with Methamphetamine in Vehicle Search

A police lance corporal in Kamphaeng Phet was arrested with 14 methamphetamine pills found in his vehicle after an informant tip led officers to his home on May 21.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 21, 2569, officers from the Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station arrested a man named Cha (surname withheld), age 52, at his residence in Nai Muang Subdistrict, Kamphaeng Phet City. The arrest followed an informant tip that drug use was occurring at the location. When police arrived, they found Cha about to get into his personal vehicle. Upon seeing the officers, Cha showed obvious signs of panic and nervousness, and attempted to hide something in the car. Officers immediately identified themselves and requested to search the vehicle.

During initial questioning, Cha confessed to consuming one methamphetamine pill earlier that morning and admitted that the items he tried to conceal in the vehicle were methamphetamine. Officers conducted a thorough search of the car and discovered 14 methamphetamine pills in a clear plastic bag wrapped in tissue paper on the driver's seat. The pills were seized as evidence.

Further investigation and questioning of the suspect's relatives revealed a shocking discovery: Cha is actually a commissioned police officer with the rank of Lance Corporal (Dab Tamruat), serving as a sergeant major at a police station in Kamphaeng Phet City's Muang District.

The arresting officers transferred Cha and the evidence to Pol. Maj. Pracha Thabanchong, an investigator at Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station, for further legal proceedings.
