Young singer Rial Kasibandit, known as 'Son of the Nation,' works tirelessly to support his family, giving his mother a six-figure cash gift for her birthday and dreaming of taking his parents to Switzerland. He recently performed at the 13th A Fair market event at CentralWorld Bangkae, where he opened up about his demanding work schedule, caring for his family, and an inspiring moment helping an elderly woman on the roadside.
"I've been running around constantly lately, always looking for work and ways to earn money for my family and my mother," he explained. When asked about his mother's birthday gift, he revealed that he gave her cash to buy her own present, intending to give 100,000 baht, though she ended up spending more on gold jewelry. "I didn't have time to buy a gift myself, so I gave her the cash to choose something she liked. She bought more than the budget though—some gold ornaments."
He described his mother as a hardworking woman who previously worked in accounting before switching to driving a taxi. "My mother is very diligent and resilient. When she was younger and working in accounting, she'd sometimes sneak away to play speed math games with friends when she had a bit of money."
Regarding his father, Rial mentioned that his mother manages the finances in the household. "My father doesn't really keep money in his account—my mother uses it all. So I saved 100,000 baht for him in his account. One day he woke up shocked and asked where the money came from, but my mother just showed him things she'd bought and asked if they were nice. Ultimately, my mother spent his money anyway."
He expressed that his parents are proud of him for taking care of the family. "They're proud, and it's my responsibility as the eldest son to support the family and my younger siblings. I don't feel stressed about it—it's just a normal part of my duty."
When asked about his work situation, he said things have been busy but manageable, with new jobs continuing to come in. Regarding his dream of visiting Switzerland, he said: "I want to take my mother to Switzerland. It's a country I've dreamed about since childhood—it's so beautiful. I told my mother, 'Let's find time to go to Switzerland,' but she joked back with a pun, thinking I meant something else. The truth is, I really want to go to Switzerland, but the expenses are quite high. I calculated it and started sweating. My mother is frugal too, so it won't be easy to convince her. When I suggested she sell her gold to fund the trip, she said she'd rather bite her tongue!"
He explained his desire to travel with his parents: "My mother doesn't get to travel much in life. The furthest she's been is Khlong Saen Saep. I want her to travel more, and I want my father to travel too. He loves watching foreign films and has never been to Japan. When he finally went once, he was amazed by the translation feature."
"Have they expressed happiness about your birthday?" He replied warmly: "They're happy in their own way. That day I was actually filming a show, so after work I rushed home. But I would never forget my mother."
