Muay Thai Promoter Blasts Judges Over Rigged Decisions

Petchyindee camp promoter Siyaboat alleges judges rigged decisions at Rajadamnern Stadium's July 2 event, demanding systemic reform and foreign officials to eliminate corruption from muay Thai scoring.

6h ago Khaosod

Siyaboat Nattadej Vachirratanwong, promoter and owner of Petchyindee camp, has again spoken out against judges' officiating, which he believes is destroying muay Thai. He called for systemic reform at Rajadamnern Stadium following the controversial July 2, 2025 Petchyindee event, alleging scores were locked in from round one in the "Steel Bone vs. Petchmoungkan" bout. He demanded the stadium overhaul its system and audit judges' financial trails, and suggested bringing in foreign officials to eliminate corruption.

Siyaboat posted an interview on Petchyindee's Facebook explaining his frustrations. "The scoring deteriorated over three rounds," he said. "I've watched muay Thai my whole life. I can tell the fix was in from round one, not just rounds four or five." He emphasized his credibility, saying he wouldn't speak out without certainty. "I've analyzed every bout carefully. When I speak, it's not gossip—I have a reputation to back it up."

He cited specific examples: "In today's card, Tienchaluang could have lost to anyone, but in round five, he shouldn't have lost—yet three judges gave it against him. And Steel Bone, who fights for Petchyindee, seemed unaware he was winning three rounds but lost on points."

Siyaboat proposed drastic solutions: "The person overseeing judges must be an outsider with no connection to the stadium and no incentive to protect themselves. Judges have always covered for each other. The only way to fix this is to bring in authorities or someone who can audit judges' finances—like FIFA does for football referees. This corruption damages Thai boxing nationally, not just Rajadamnern. Otherwise, hire foreigners to judge. Thai judges clearly can't do it."

Ruling MP Defends Ministers Skipping Live Questions

A ruling party MP defended ministers against accusations of dodging live parliamentary questions, citing scheduling conflicts and tight preparation time, while urging the opposition to stop using the issue for political gain.

6h ago Khaosod

On July 4, 2569, Akkharadet Wongphitakrojon, Ratchaburi MP from the Bhumjaithai Party, responded to criticism by Phakdi Watchrasindu, a list-based MP from the People's Party, who accused government ministers of dodging live parliamentary questions. Akkharadet said the opposition should stop using the issue for political games, noting the government consistently takes questions seriously and ministers regularly appear to respond.

Akkharadet stated that the Prime Minister has continuously ordered the cabinet to prioritize responding to parliamentary members, making accusations of evasion unfair. Live questions differ from regular ones, he noted, as ministers receive only a few hours' notice in the morning before the session, sometimes conflicting with unavoidable state business that cannot be postponed.

Regarding the Senate election case, Akkharadet said ministers have repeatedly explained and answered parliamentary questions about it. Since the case remains under Election Commission review and investigation, it should proceed through proper judicial channels, he argued.

He noted the Justice Minister regularly answers parliamentary questions and occasional schedule conflicts are understandable given the time constraints of live questioning versus pre-scheduled regular questions.

"The opposition should stop using ministers' absence from live questions to discredit the government, as this is unproductive politics," Akkharadet said. "Phakdi, as a new generation politician, should conduct straightforward politics rather than mislead the public into thinking ministers intentionally avoid questions, when the reality is that live questions have strict time limitations."

Dr. Tewan emphasized that the department will not overlook any feedback, dedicating at least 15 days to filter, refine, and amend the bill's content based on all recommendations received. The department will then present the finalized draft to the Health Minister for approval by July 24, 2025, before forwarding it to the cabinet for policy endorsement, with emphasis on public welfare and maintaining social, health, and economic stability.

Ex-Pheu Thai Spokesman Demands Energy Price Overhaul

Ex-Pheu Thai spokesman Prommpong Noppruet demands the government overhaul energy pricing to ensure Thai fuel and product costs drop when global oil prices fall, calling for greater transparency and budget reforms to reduce citizens' living

7h ago Khaosod

Ex-Pheu Thai Spokesman Demands Energy Price Overhaul, Questions Why Thai Oil Prices Aren't Falling With Global Markets. On July 4, 2025, Prommpong Noppruet, former spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the public's cost of living concerns. Global oil prices are trending downward, yet Thais continue questioning why fuel costs, transportation fees, shipping charges, and everyday product prices haven't declined accordingly. Thailand has a comprehensive energy management system, and the time has come for the government and related agencies to review the entire energy pricing structure.

Prommpong proposed three urgent reforms for public benefit: First, completely overhaul the energy pricing formula and implement proactive measures to ensure Thais benefit quickly and fairly when global energy prices drop, within legal and fiscal frameworks. Second, increase transparency by simplifying and regularly communicating complex energy price data to the public. Third, link budget spending to real-world impact as the 2570 budget bill advances through parliamentary committees—an opportunity to prioritize reducing citizens' living costs above all else, since good budgets must solve real problems, not just look good on paper.

Prommpong emphasized that good governance isn't about competing in debates but competing to lower people's living costs. The best budget isn't one that spends everything but one that measurably reduces living expenses. "Public confidence doesn't come from longer explanations but from people genuinely feeling their lives improve. Citizens don't expect government and opposition to defeat each other—they expect all sides to unite against the cost-of-living crisis. Ultimately, politicians are judged not by parliamentary rhetoric but by the quality of life and wellbeing of the people," he said.

Rare 2,000-Year-Old Brahmi Ring Unearthed in Phetchaburi

Archaeologists in Phetchaburi have unearthed a rare 2,000-year-old Brahmi script ring and multiple bronze drums at the Don Yai Thong site, marking Thailand's first location with such concentrated ancient artifacts. Officials are pushing for

7h ago Khaosod

On July 4, 2025, Thiwalrat Angkinanthana, Phetchaburi MP and chair of the parliamentary committee on religion, arts and culture, announced new discoveries at the Don Yai Thong archaeological site in Ban Laad District, Phetchaburi Province. Archaeologists have uncovered two additional gold rings, one of which is a seal ring featuring Brahmi script inscriptions and dating to approximately 1,900-2,100 years ago.

The excavation began after locals found bronze drums. Subsequent digs have revealed five bronze drums total, eight ancient human skeletons, and a suspected ninth skeleton believed to be a child, along with valuable ornaments including bracelets, gold rings, bronze vessels, and ancient beads. Archaeologists have identified this as the first site in Thailand with such a concentration of archaeological structures and artifacts. The Fine Arts Department is preparing additional funding to continue research.

Thiwalrat noted that due to the current rainy season, skeletal remains have been temporarily moved to a museum in Pathum Thani Province. After the rains end, artifacts will be displayed in Phetchaburi for local viewing.

"As a Phetchaburi native and chair of this committee, I recognize that while the province has tremendous historical and cultural heritage, it lacks a central provincial museum," Thiwalrat said. "Most of Phetchaburi's artifacts are stored and displayed elsewhere because the province lacks appropriate facilities. The existing museum atop Phra Nakhon Khiri has accessibility limitations for elderly visitors. I urge the Fine Arts Department to support establishing a proper museum here."

Thiwalrat also announced that the Fine Arts Department director is advancing efforts to have Phra Nakhon Khiri inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A working committee has been formed to study the impact on the annual Phra Nakhon Khiri festival and its thousands of participants. The province welcomes budget support for restoration.

Thiwalrat predicted that Nakhon Si Thammarat and Chiang Mai provinces will achieve World Heritage status by year's end, and urged all provinces with heritage potential to coordinate with the committee to promote Thailand's cultural sites internationally and boost tourism.

Deputy PM Defends 400 Billion Baht Emergency Decree

Thailand's Deputy PM defended a 400 billion baht emergency decree funding relief programs and clean energy transition as the Constitutional Court prepares to rule on the measure July 9.

7h ago Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanpraphas stated at the Royal River Hotel in Bangkok on July 4, 2569 that the 400 billion baht emergency decree is essential as the Constitutional Court prepares to rule on the measure July 9. The decree already has legal force following its Royal Gazette publication. He explained that regular budget allocations are insufficient to address Thailand's current crises, particularly the cost of living crisis that stemmed from energy and input cost pressures. Without intervention, small businesses face collapse and deeper hardship. The decree funds critical relief programs like Thailand Helps Thailand Plus, which assists small merchants and incorporates AI training to improve their business skills. Ekniti emphasized that energy transition is equally vital, noting Thailand's heavy dependence on oil and natural gas—representing roughly 10 percent of GDP and the highest in Southeast Asia. Transitioning to clean energy like solar power will reduce electricity costs and enable households and businesses to sell power back to the grid. The decree allocates 200 billion baht for sustainable energy transition projects. He stressed that all funded projects must directly address one of three objectives: clean energy transition, transportation vehicle conversion, or human development—with no wasteful or arbitrary spending.

Parliament Leader Promotes Buddhist Values Through Prayer and Meditation

Parliament leader Sompon Saramutt led a Buddhist merit-making ceremony on July 3 promoting daily spiritual practice through giving, moral conduct, and meditation alongside senior monks in Bangkok.

7h ago Khaosod

Sompon Saramutt, President of the National Assembly and House of Representatives, presided over a program designed to promote Buddhist teachings in everyday life, held on July 3, 2025. The initiative aims to develop merit and virtue through the three practices: giving, moral conduct, and meditation. The ceremony included reverence to the Three Jewels, precept recitation, precept-taking, and monastic alms presented to Venerable Phrom Wachrawimol Muni (Bunchit Nyanasvaro), deputy abbot of Maha Dhatu Yuwarat Rangsit Royal Temple and administrator of the Buddhist monastic council of Bangkok, accompanied by five monks.

Venerable Phrom Wachrawimol Muni offered Dhamma teachings and blessings for the participants' auspiciousness. Sompon explained that participation generates the three foundations of merit: giving through alms, moral conduct through restraint of body, speech, and mind, and meditation through mindfulness and concentration leading to wisdom. He stressed that merit represents happiness while virtue represents wisdom, enabling participants to gain both the happiness of merit-making and wisdom through Dhamma teachings and collective practice.

The program concluded with participants chanting Buddhist sutras and meditating for approximately ten minutes before closing at 5:00 PM.
