Japan Joins 'Balikatan' Drills, Fires Live Anti-Ship Missiles Near South China Sea

Japan participated in the annual Balikatan joint military exercises with the United States, Australia, and the Philippines, successfully firing live Type 88 anti-ship missiles that struck a Philippine Navy vessel from 75 kilometers away. The drills come as the two nations discuss potential transfers of advanced defense equipment, including destroyers and aircraft, marking Japan's expanded military role in the region.

7 May Khaosod

Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force fired live Type 88 surface-to-ship missiles during joint maritime drills with U.S., Australian, and Philippine forces in the annual Balikatan exercises, which means "shoulder to shoulder." Two missiles launched from waters near Paoay on the South China Sea successfully targeted the decommissioned Philippine Navy destroyer BRP Quezon within six minutes from approximately 75 kilometers away.

The exercises come as the Philippines and Japan discuss potential transfers of defense equipment, including Abukuma-class destroyers and TC-90 aircraft, following Japan's decision to lift restrictions on heavy weapons exports. Japanese Defense Minister Shinichiro Koizumi and Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro witnessed the live missile firing.

The Philippine Defense Ministry stated that "this exercise demonstrates coordinated maritime strike operations between allied forces and highlights the enhanced capability of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to conduct joint operations with international partners to promote regional security and freedom of navigation." Teodoro expressed pride that Japan's Type 88 missile system, designed to defend coastal areas and deter maritime threats, successfully conducted this operation for the first time.

More than 17,000 troops participated in the Balikatan drills, including 1,400 Japanese forces and 10,000 American service members. China has regularly criticized the joint military exercises, claiming they increase regional tensions.

Natthaphong Raises Three Public Agendas for PM to Showcase Thailand's Leadership at ASEAN Summit on Border and Energy Issues

Pheu Thai MP Natthaphong urges PM Anutin to champion three agendas at the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines: resolving Thailand-Cambodia maritime disputes through bilateral talks, addressing regional energy security through cross-border grid

7 May Khaosod

On May 7, 2025, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, list-system MP and Pheu Thai Party leader, posted a message titled "Three Public Agendas PM Anutin Must Boldly Present Thailand's Leadership Role at the ASEAN Summit." Before the Prime Minister travels to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines between May 7-9, 2025, he wants to offer recommendations to PM Anutin as head of Thailand's government delegation regarding Thailand's diplomatic role and importance amid significant challenges in an era of great power competition, with Southeast Asia as one of the critical battlegrounds. However, Thailand's role in ASEAN has declined, as has ASEAN's clout as a regional negotiating power. Today we face critical issues that affect not just Thailand, but the economies and security of nations throughout ASEAN. The key challenge for Thai leadership is to reverse Thailand's international role. If the government has the political will and courage to assume a leadership position, Natthaphong proposes three agendas where the PM can use the ASEAN platform to resolve problems: the maritime boundary dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, the energy crisis, and environmental issues.

On the first issue of resolving the overlapping maritime claims between Thailand and Cambodia, Pheu Thai believes the Cabinet's decision to rescind MOU 44 poses risks to Thailand's image on the world stage. The party views MOU 44 as potentially beneficial in protecting Thai interests. However, with the Cabinet's May 5 decision to rescind it, and the PM's potential meeting with Cambodia's premier, Natthaphong sees a crucial opportunity to reach resolution through bilateral negotiations where Thailand can control the pace—the best way to protect national interests rather than submitting the dispute to UNCLOS's binding arbitration process, which would involve third parties and make outcomes unpredictable.

On the energy crisis, the Middle East conflicts have caused significant global energy price volatility, directly impacting energy costs and living expenses for Thai citizens. This challenge affects not only Thailand but the entire ASEAN region, especially countries dependent on energy imports, making them vulnerable to global fluctuations.

During such challenges, ASEAN member states must collaborate through pushing cross-border electricity grid connectivity. Thailand should lead efforts to realize the ASEAN Power Grid concretely, reducing dependence on energy imports from outside the region. Such connectivity not only improves energy management efficiency and reduces external risks but opens new investment opportunities at the regional level. Thailand possesses strategic advantages in geography as a central hub and infrastructure readiness to drive this grid's success.

Hair Care Tips After Coloring: Keep Your Color Vibrant and Long-Lasting with the Right Shampoo

This article provides expert tips for maintaining vibrant hair color after dyeing and preventing common issues like rapid color fading and dryness. The key recommendation is switching to specialized color-protection shampoo like L'Oreal Paris, along with using cool water, avoiding heat styling, and applying regular hair masks. Following these steps will keep your colored hair looking beautiful and healthy for longer.

7 May Khaosod

Fashion lovers, take note! Discover the secrets to maintaining beautiful, vibrant hair color after dyeing, preventing color fade, and restoring health to damaged strands. We recommend L'Oreal Paris shampoo as the key to locking in color and keeping your hair looking flawless. Say goodbye to dry, faded hair!

Hair coloring trends are booming right now—from hidden hair colors to pastel shades and trendy bright tones. Changing your hair color is like getting a new look that boosts your confidence tremendously. However, many color enthusiasts have experienced a nightmare after leaving the salon: severely dry, damaged hair with split ends and, worst of all, rapid color fading. After just a few washes, that expensive salon color turns into a dull, rusty tone!

Why does hair become dry and color fade so quickly after coloring?

Hair damage after coloring or bleaching occurs because harsh chemicals open the hair cuticles forcefully to remove old pigment and push in new color. When the cuticles are damaged, hair loses its natural moisture and protein dramatically, becoming weak and prone to breakage. When cuticles remain open, the color you paid for easily washes out with water during every shampoo.

Tips for maintaining colored hair with long-lasting, vibrant color:

Don't worry! We have expert-approved tips to help you lock in color and keep your hair beautiful for longer while restoring shine to damaged strands.

1. Wash with room temperature or cold water The golden rule: never wash with hot water! Hot water opens hair cuticles even wider, causing color to fade twice as fast and causing additional dryness. Washing with room temperature or cold water helps close the cuticles, seals in color pigment, and makes hair look shinier.

2. Avoid heat styling for 1-2 weeks In the first 1-2 weeks after coloring, avoid using heat styling tools, as heat causes color to fade and damages hair structure. If you must use heat, always apply a heat-protective serum or spray.

3. Use hair masks regularly Chemically-treated hair needs intensive care. Apply a treatment mask at least 1-2 times per week to restore lost moisture and protein, reduce frizz, and add weight to your hair.

The most important step: Choose shampoo designed specifically for colored hair

This is crucial! Many people make the mistake of returning to regular shampoos with harsh surfactants (sulfates) that strip away color pigment completely. For long-lasting, vibrant color, switch to shampoo specifically designed for colored hair from a world-class brand like L'Oreal Paris.

Keep color vibrant longer with L'Oreal Paris Color Protect

L'Oreal Paris Color Protect shampoo features color-protection technology with UVA and UVB filters to lock in color, prevent fading from sun exposure, and restore smoothness to damaged cuticles.

Restore tone-bleached hair with L'Oreal Paris EverPure

For those with bleached, ash-toned hair, try the premium formula of L'Oreal Paris EverPure, a sulfate-free shampoo.

GCAP Identifies Early Stagflation Signals in Global Economy, Supports Gold Rally; Recommends Accumulating at 68,500–68,200 Baht

Global stagflation signals are emerging as stocks and bonds decline simultaneously while inflation remains elevated, prompting GCAP Gold to recommend gradually accumulating gold near 68,500–68,200 baht per unit for medium to long-term portf

7 May Khaosod

GCAP GOLD assesses that the global economy is beginning to show stagflation signals following simultaneous declines in stocks and bonds, while inflation remains elevated and geopolitical risks pressure markets. Gold is expected to fluctuate in the short term but maintain an uptrend in the medium to long term, with the firm recommending gradual accumulation if prices weaken near 68,500 baht per baht of gold.

On May 7, 2569, Areerat Murachai, head analyst at GCAP GOLD, revealed that current market conditions are showing concerning signals, particularly as major assets like stocks and bonds decline simultaneously—historically marking the beginning of an economic slowdown cycle while inflation remains stubbornly high. This is causing the global economic structure to undergo significant transformation and reflect early stagflation signals, which marks the starting point of a cycle favorable for gold's return in the coming period.

Another critical market factor is energy pressure, particularly geopolitical risks in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz, which directly impacts global oil prices and inflation. As inflation pressures persist, major central banks, especially the U.S. Federal Reserve, are likely to maintain high interest rates longer, keeping the dollar strong and bond yields elevated—factors that pressure gold prices in the near term.

However, within the stagflation cycle structure, gold typically doesn't appreciate immediately in the early phase due to pressure from rising real yields. But when the economy shows clear slowdown signals and inflation fails to decline as targeted, these factors become a crucial turning point that will restore gold's prominence as a systemic risk hedge, particularly when monetary policy has limited capacity to stimulate the economy.

"In the short term, gold prices will remain volatile, moving more in a sell-and-buy pattern than a continuous uptrend, with the dollar and bond yields limiting upside. But in the medium to long term, stagflation structure will be a key driver for gold to return to an uptrend, especially if economic slowdown occurs alongside embedded inflation, which will accelerate significant capital inflows into safe-haven assets," the analysis states.

The analysis recommends investors wanting to accumulate gold for medium to long-term portfolios wait for prices to weaken near 4,400 USD, equivalent to approximately 68,500–68,200 baht in Thai gold prices, then gradually enter positions. This zone serves as a key support level that has historically supported gold's rallies in late 2568 and is important for the long-term structure, making it suitable for beginning accumulation for investment.

For short-term portfolios, investors are advised to trade along price swing cycles using a primarily "sell-and-buy" strategy—entering purchases when prices dip near key support levels and gradually selling for profits when prices bounce, with clear stop-loss points to manage short-term volatility risk.

Foreign buyers primarily came from high-potential markets such as China, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Middle East, which play crucial roles in the industry's future growth and offer Thai entrepreneurs concrete opportunities to expand internationally.

Shocking Revelation: Buddha Reveals Scandal of Renowned Past-Life Fortune Teller Accused of Sexual Assault – Young Kongkraphan Stunned

A renowned northern Thailand fortune teller faces sexual assault allegations from a businessman, with celebrities including Buddha Aphiwan and Young Kongkraphan expressing shock over the accusations against someone they once respected.

7 May Khaosod

Buddha expresses shock after revealing allegations against a famous past-life fortune teller he once respected, who now faces sexual misconduct charges. He appeals to celebrities, country singers, and models to come forward. Young Kongkraphan also expresses surprise, revealing he once brought Mekhla Winai to visit the fortune teller.

A 32-year-old businessman filed a complaint through the "Sai Mai Tong Rohd" page against a renowned fortune teller from northern Thailand. The accused is famous for having many celebrity disciples and claims to communicate with hell and heaven. The businessman alleges he was sexually assaulted three times, with the perpetrator claiming it was treatment and karma resolution. Charges are being prepared with authorities.

Buddha Aphiwan expressed shock upon reading the news, saying he was surprised someone he once respected could behave this way. He declined to name the person but said he spoke with a disciple. Buddha mentioned several celebrities who have visited this fortune teller, including Vinai Kraibutr, Tik Glinsee, and Young Kongkraphan.

Young Kongkraphan expressed surprise, revealing when he accompanied Mekhla Winai to visit the famous past-life fortune teller. Kongkraphan described the fortune teller, saying: "He had special perception, could identify your karma debtor. When you visited, he'd tell you to pay respects at five different temples, then return on a full moon day when he'd reveal who your karma debtor was. But there was never any private room, no undressing. That went on for many years."

"After he became famous, I don't know what he did because I haven't visited him in many years," Kongkraphan continued. "He worked voluntarily without asking for money, helping people. I brought Mekhla because there were no medications, no injections, just herbal remedies—no risks. It was just asking forgiveness from whoever was perceived as the karma debtor and resolving it together. He worked out of good will."

"We felt he was helping people. Even though it seemed unbelievable, it wasn't wrong. He never pressured anyone or demanded money," Kongkraphan said. "But with news like this, we wait for the evidence. It's a personal matter. I never knew him from this angle. When we visited, we were like other people waiting for hours because so many came. When I brought Mekhla, he wasn't this famous yet—he became well-known because of that event."

"I haven't visited him in many years, don't know what's happened, don't know him that well. We just came to film a show, like inviting a guest. That's all."

Regarding the disciple's response, program sources reported that the fortune teller is aware of the news but doesn't want to make statements or give interviews. If the accuser considers himself a victim, authorities should file charges and arrest the fortune teller. The fortune teller has a lawyer and is fighting the allegations vigorously. The other party may have intentionally tried to damage the fortune teller's reputation or doesn't understand the karma resolution procedures.

Sources indicated that in the Siwalungka ritual, a man uses water from swallowing a deity's image and splashes it on the fortune teller's face, but permission is requested first. Anyone who doesn't consent can refuse—there's no force involved.

Buddha unveiled still images in the program showing an elderly person and posed the question: who is this and what do they do? Evidence exists. Buddha ended the program by appealing to celebrity disciples and models to come forward, saying that if the alleged misconduct occurred, it's not karma resolution.
