Jackson Acknowledges Buriram's Heavy Losses as Two Key Players Face Championship Final Ban

Buriram United advanced to the AFC Champions League Cup final with a 4-3 aggregate victory over Johor Darul Ta'zim, but suffered a significant blow when key players Guilherme Bissoli and Goran Causic received red cards in the semi-final second leg on May 13. The two suspended players will miss the final against Malaysian side Selangor FC, though coach Mark Jackson expressed confidence in the team's depth and resilience to overcome the challenge.

5d ago Khaosod

Buriram United coach Mark Jackson admitted the club has suffered heavy damage without striker Guilherme Bissoli and midfielder Goran Causic for the AFC Champions League Cup final. In the Shopee Cup 2025/26 semi-final second leg, Buriram United played at home for 120 minutes but lost 1-2 to Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim. However, Buriram progressed to the final with a 4-3 aggregate victory on May 13. During that match, both Bissoli and Causic received red cards, leaving them unavailable for the final against Malaysian club Selangor FC.

After the match, Jackson stated: "I'm proud of how the team played with full commitment. Overall, we performed well in the first half but made mistakes that led to goals conceded. Losing a goal late in the first half damaged us significantly."

"I told the players at halftime that no match is decided in the first 45 minutes. I've been with this squad for some time now, and we've shown multiple times that when facing difficult situations, we can overcome them. We fall, but we get back up. The players performed exceptionally well."

"We're disappointed to lose two quality players, and their absence will significantly hurt us. However, we'll find solutions because we have good depth, and this gives other players opportunities. But I'm concerned about losing Bissoli and Causic to suspension. It's my responsibility and the team's to prepare everyone properly."

"Playing abroad presents many challenges already. I appreciate the information about this stadium with its larger-than-normal grass pitch. My staff and I have worked hard, monitoring weather conditions and analyzing other factors."

"Johor Darul Ta'zim is an excellent team that made today's match outstanding. We prepared well and anticipated how our opponents would play. Although we wanted more possession in the first half, aside from the goals conceded, our defensive performance was excellent. As the match progressed, we grew stronger. I'm satisfied with the players' physical and mental condition—I believe every player can fall, but none will surrender."

"It was a physically intense match. Our players received 6 yellow cards and 2 red cards. While cards were given, I believe all our players showed discipline, though I'll review the incidents involving our yellow and red cards."

Goalscorer Kingsley Schindler said: "Losing two important players affects the team, but we'll find ways to play and advance to the final. I'm very happy with my goal—it shows the team's unity that got us here."

"I have confidence in all my teammates. We've faced situations like this before. Everyone showed fighting spirit on the pitch, and the coach provided excellent guidance. The players worked together well. I think our fans should be very proud that the team made it to the final."

Yala Transport Office Addresses Crowding as Residents Rush for Driver's License Queue Numbers, Announces New System

The Yala Provincial Transport Office has overhauled its driver's license services in response to viral videos showing chaotic crowding and residents rushing to secure queue positions. The office now operates Monday through Friday with additional Saturday services, implementing a systematic queue management system that can accommodate 70-80 applicants daily. Service users report significant improvements in wait times and service quality since the new system's implementation.

5d ago Khaosod

On May 14, 2025, reporters covering the Yala Provincial Transport Office noted that officials opened services starting at 8:00 a.m. to provide convenient, fast, and uncrowded service for residents seeking to obtain or renew their driver's licenses. This follows viral social media footage of people arriving at dawn and rushing through the office doors when they opened, with some residents even falling over in the scramble to secure early queue numbers—alarming scenes that caught public attention.

Adulai Hayisae, Yala Provincial Transport Officer, revealed that in response to the previous congestion problems, the office has implemented a new service system and expanded operating hours. Previously, new driver's license applications were accepted only on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, causing a backlog of applicants. The office now serves clients every weekday (Monday through Friday) in accordance with Land Transport Department policy, and has added Saturday services to accommodate the large volume of residents in the area.

Queue Management and Time Efficiency: The office uses a systematic queue management system with special walk-in queue requests beginning at 5:00 a.m. to relieve congestion and increase capacity. Staff distribute walk-in applicants across available days based on seating capacity.

Service Categories: Online queue booking through the DLT SmartQueue system accommodates approximately 60 people daily, allowing applicants to know their exact queue time. For license renewals, residents who have completed the online e-Learning training can walk in immediately. Special training programs are offered for those unable to complete online training, such as elderly citizens, and for large vehicle license applications.

Capacity Enhancement: The office currently handles approximately 70-80 people per day (including walk-ins and online bookings), with staff stationed at various points to answer questions and facilitate the process.

Fraud Prevention: A fake news and fraud prevention center has been established to counter individuals falsely claiming they can obtain driver's licenses without exams in exchange for money. Transport officials firmly deny any policy allowing money payments to obtain driving licenses.

Ms. Kanyarat Yodthong, a service user, shared that while initial news of the crowding alarmed her, she found the system greatly improved when visiting today. She praised the staff's service quality and noted that the system runs smoothly and proportionately without the chaos seen in previous videos. Staff were stationed throughout to provide clear guidance and answer questions, leaving her feeling reassured and confident. She encouraged everyone to obtain their licenses properly and cooperate with the system to ensure smooth, quick service for all.

SPCG reports Q1/2025 operating results with total revenue of 419.9 million baht, net profit of 118.4 million baht, and EBITDA of 302.4 million baht, reflecting a strong business foundation and stable cash flow. Although the company's solar farm projects have concluded their government subsidy period for electricity purchase prices (Adder), SPCG continues to sell electricity at wholesale rates, which still generate efficient and sustainable returns.

The company has demonstrated the success of precise investment planning over the past decade, putting it in a strong financial position to redirect cash flows from existing projects toward aggressive expansion into new business areas. Looking ahead, SPCG sees significant growth opportunities in the residential solar rooftop market, bolstered by favorable government policies including personal income tax deductions of up to 200,000 baht and electricity buyback rates of 2.20 baht per unit. The company is currently preparing investment plans through Solar Power Roof (SPR), its wholly-owned subsidiary, and has already begun pilot installations for select customers.

Despite global economic volatility and supply chain challenges for critical equipment such as solar panels and inverters, SPCG has prepared cost management and equipment reserve strategies in advance. The company plans to announce its formal business plan shortly. Regarding market competition, SPCG emphasizes quality and safety over price through customized system designs to achieve maximum energy output and long-term value. The company positions its brand as a trustworthy expert in engineering, safety standards, and after-sales service—core values that differentiate it in the market and support sustainable growth.

He assured there are no rifts within the ruling coalition and stated the spokesman's team is capable of resolving the matter internally without requiring further intervention from the Prime Minister.

Following the cabinet meeting last Tuesday (May 12), the team dispersed. You must understand that the new deputy spokesman just started only a week ago and may need to adjust the pace and content of statements according to previous discussions, but nothing went wrong. Everyone is ready to work for maximum benefit," Chulaphant said.

When asked whether this would impact the coalition government's operations or smooth functioning, Chulaphant said there was nothing that wouldn't run smoothly and confirmed there was no issue requiring discussion with the Prime Minister. He stated it is the spokesman team's responsibility to discuss internally and adjust their working method, and he personally would not interfere with the government spokesman's work as they are capable of handling such matters.

Jeff Satur Happy to Return to Sports – Updates New Project, Denies Obsession with Six-Pack Abs

Singer and actor Jeff Satur returned to playing sports and shared updates on his latest project at the est Cola 3×3 Basketball U-League campaign launch. While maintaining a disciplined fitness routine at 70% dedication, Satur clarified he's not obsessed with his physique and continues to balance a demanding schedule with his passion for sports.

5d ago Khaosod

Jeff Satur has returned to playing sports with updates on his latest project, which he's quite satisfied with. He insists he's not obsessed with maintaining a six-pack body.

The schedule has been relentlessly busy for Jeff Satur lately. He recently appeared at the "est Cola 3×3 Basketball U-League" campaign launch on May 14 at CU Sports Complex, where he opened up about his fitness regimen, sports activities, and new projects coming soon for his fans.

The young man admitted his schedule is quite packed, but he still tries to find time to exercise and play sports. He also revealed that his latest project has finished filming and he's very satisfied with the results. As for maintaining his physique, he's keeping it at about 70% discipline—not to the point of obsession, but doing his best to stay in shape.

How does it feel to play sports regularly? "It's really fun. Without days like this, I wouldn't have time to play sports at all. It's been a while since I've been able to, and it's great. But my schedule is packed right now."

What about your fitness? "I'm in decent shape. It's not bad. (You've been away from the court for a while, haven't you?) Yeah, quite a bit actually. I'd love to train more often and play with the younger guys, but I don't have much time. Still, whenever I get the chance to play like this, it's really fun."

You mentioned wanting to get abs—have you seen the struggle? "When playing, it's not that hard. But eating clean is the tough part. You have to eat dry chicken breast and boiled eggs. We don't just survive; we have to live life. (Since you said it was torture?) Yeah, torture. But when I see my physique on screen, it's worth it. (Do you still have to do it?) Kind of. I eat clean about 70% of the time."

Is your project done? "Yeah, it's done. (Will we see it this year?) I'm not sure, but I'm really happy with it. I can see myself with a nice tan. I dyed it too, and it suits the project."

Are you obsessed with your abs? "No, I'm just maintaining them. Whether they stay or not is fine. But after having them, I crave pastries and egg tarts. (How do you fight those cravings?) I look for zero-calorie foods."

Thailand warns of floods, rough seas from storms this week

Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for May 14-18, forecasting heavy rainfall that could cause flash floods and forest runoff across multiple regions. A strong low-pressure system combined with strengthening monsoon winds will also bring rough seas to the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching 2-3 meters or higher during storms. Authorities urge residents in flood-prone areas to remain alert and advise mariners to exercise caution or remain ashore during the warning period.

5d ago Khaosod

BANGKOK — May 14, 2026: Thailand's Meteorological Department (TMD) issued its third weather warning on Thursday, cautioning that heavy to very heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods and forest runoff across parts of the country from May 14-18.

The department stated in Advisory No. 3 (63/2026) that increased rainfall is expected in the northern, central, eastern and southern regions as a strong low-pressure system over the lower Bay of Bengal moves towards the upper Bay of Bengal, while the southwest monsoon strengthens over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

Residents in areas prone to flooding, particularly along foothills, waterways and low-lying areas, were urged to remain alert for possible flash floods and sudden runoff caused by heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall.

The shift in weather is attributed to a powerful low-pressure cell over the lower Bay of Bengal, which is moving toward the upper reaches of the bay. Simultaneously, the south-western monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is gaining strength.

Authorities also warned of increasingly rough seas in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. From May 15-18, waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to reach 2-3 meters, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas affected by thunderstorms. In the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are forecast at around 2 meters and higher than 2 meters during storms.

The department advised mariners to navigate with caution and avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea were urged to remain ashore during the warning period.

Residents can track live updates at http://www.tmd.go.th, the department's website, or its 24-hour emergency hotlines: 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182.

The announcement was issued at 05:00 on Thursday. TMD said its next update would be released at 17:00 on the same day.

France bars 1,700 cruise passengers after illness outbreak

French authorities have quarantined over 1,700 passengers and crew aboard the MS Ambition cruise ship in Bordeaux after approximately 50 people fell ill with gastrointestinal illness. The outbreak has no connection to recent hantavirus cases on another cruise ship, and medical specialists are now investigating the specific pathogen responsible. This incident follows a record-high number of gastrointestinal outbreaks on cruise ships in 2024, most commonly caused by norovirus.

5d ago Khaosod

BORDEAUX — 14 May 2026, French authorities barred more than 1,700 passengers and crew aboard the British cruise ship MS Ambition from disembarking after around 50 people fell ill in an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness, officials said.

Authorities said there was no indication the outbreak was linked to the recent hantavirus cases reported aboard the Dutch-operated cruise ship MV Hondius.

The MS Ambition, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, was on a 14-night voyage departing from Belfast and Liverpool, with scheduled stops in northern Spain and along France's Atlantic coast.

The vessel arrived in Bordeaux on the evening of 13 May.

Étienne Guyot, prefect of the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, ordered passengers and crew to remain on board and restricted contact between the ship and Bordeaux port authorities following recommendations from regional health officials.

Authorities said about 50 passengers showed symptoms consistent with acute gastrointestinal infection after the ship's captain alerted French officials. Sick passengers were initially treated by onboard doctors and isolated in their cabins.

Medical teams supervised by France's maritime medical coordination centre were later deployed to the ship, while infectious disease specialists at Bordeaux University Hospital began analysing patient samples to identify the pathogen, assess transmission risks and determine additional health measures.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 16 gastrointestinal outbreaks were reported on cruise ships in 2024, the highest annual total in more than a decade. Most were linked to norovirus, including a recently identified strain believed to spread more easily.

Chulphand Reiterates Position on Constitutional Reform: For Thai Party Must Stay Grounded, Address Cost of Living First

For Thai party leader Chulphand Amornwiwat reaffirmed the party's commitment to constitutional reform but emphasized the need to prioritize addressing the public's cost of living issues first. He called for dialogue among all parties to develop a constitution amendment draft acceptable to the Senate, which requires a one-third majority vote. Chulphand stressed that the party must remain grounded in reality and listen to majority voices to move forward effectively.

5d ago Khaosod

Chulphand Amornwiwat, Labor Minister and For Thai party leader, held a party meeting at Parliament on May 14 at 9:45 AM to discuss the party's position on continuing constitutional reform efforts. He confirmed the party's commitment to pushing forward with reform based on the earlier public referendum, but emphasized the need to heed majority voices. Since constitutional amendments require a one-third Senate majority, all parties must reach consensus on a mutually acceptable draft. Chulphand acknowledged remaining obstacles to reform. "We need to discuss and present a draft that all sides can accept and genuinely support," he stated. "Our party must be realistic—we must acknowledge that at this moment, addressing citizens' cost of living concerns is the top priority."
