Phayao, again! A pickup truck and sedan collided at the red light intersection in Pongsanuk, leaving two people injured with both vehicles badly damaged. Residents are urging relevant authorities to urgently fix the broken traffic signal before a more severe accident occurs.
On May 27, 2025, Chun Police Station in Phayao received reports of a collision between an Isuzu pickup truck and a Chevrolet sedan at the Pongsanuk red light intersection in Moo 8, Huai Yang Kham Subdistrict, Chun District, Phayao. Rescue teams from Guan Oo were immediately dispatched to assist the injured.
At the scene, an Isuzu pickup truck (bronze-gray, license plate บน 5453 Phayao) was found with severe front-end damage and unable to be driven. Two people inside required rescue team first aid before being rushed to Chun Hospital. Nearby, a black Chevrolet sedan (license plate กน 3334 Lamphun) also had front-end damage but no injuries.
Initial investigation showed both vehicles were traveling on different routes before colliding at the intersection. However, local residents revealed that this intersection experiences frequent accidents, especially in the mornings, due to the faulty traffic signal at Pongsanuk intersection that has been broken for some time without proper repairs. Many are concerned that a more serious accident may occur if the situation is not addressed.
Chun Police officers conducted initial investigations, documenting the scene and questioning both drivers, with preliminary mediation attempts underway. The full cause of the accident remains under detailed investigation.
