Typhoon Maysak will not enter Thailand but will trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall across northern, northeastern, and eastern regions through July 6, with sea conditions intensifying in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning about Typhoon Maysak (ninth advisory, 112/2569) effective July 5, 2025. As of 4:00 a.m., the storm's center was located in southern Guangxi province, China, at latitude 21.8°N and longitude 108.4°E, with maximum winds near 93 kilometers per hour. The typhoon is moving northeastward at 10 kilometers per hour and is expected to weaken into a depression and low-pressure trough. The storm center is not expected to enter Thai territory.
Influenced by Typhoon Maysak and a monsoon trough passing over northern Thailand and Laos, combined with strengthening southwest monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, Thailand will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas, particularly in the northern, upper northeastern, and eastern regions during July 5-6, 2025.
Sea conditions will intensify, with the upper Andaman Sea reaching wave heights of 2-3 meters (exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas), and the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand reaching approximately 2 meters (exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas). Fishermen are advised to exercise caution, avoid boating in thunderstorm zones, and small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore during the specified period.
The public is urged to plan activities and travel carefully during this period and monitor updates from the Thai Meteorological Department at www.tmd.go.th, or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours. The next advisory will be issued on July 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
