Coffee Shop Van Destroyed In Fire After Repair
A coffee shop van caught fire and was destroyed on a roadside in Pathum Thani on June 30, shortly after being picked up from a repair shop where it had been serviced for starting problems.
At 8 p.m. on June 30, 2569, Deputy Superintendent Yodsawat Silaphat of Thanyaburi Police Station received a report of a vehicle fire near a roasted chicken shop on Sai Pracharasd Road (King's Route), Moo 1, Bung Yee Tho Sub-district, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province. Three fire trucks from Bung Yee Tho Municipality and Lat Sawai Municipality, along with police officers and village officials, responded to the scene.
At the location, firefighters found a bronze Volkswagen van with license plate ผค 5635 (Chachoengsao) engulfed in flames. After spraying water inside the vehicle to extinguish the initial fire, flames reignited from the engine. It took firefighters approximately one hour to fully control the blaze, leaving the entire van a total loss.
A witness, a 46-year-old durian vendor, reported seeing the van arrive and then a red MG sedan pick up a young female driver. He later noticed small flames emerging from inside the van and alerted the owner's relative.
Ms. Pichyavat, 28, the van owner, arrived at the scene with family members. She explained that the van, used as a coffee shop called "Pichay Kue Star," had a starting problem and was sent to a repair shop in the Lam Luuk Ka area. She had purchased the van from the same repair shop. The mechanic called that day to say the repairs were complete, so she picked it up to take home to Khlong Si. She then parked the van by the roadside while she and a friend went to a mall, thinking the large van would be inconvenient to park there.
The van, which had dual fuel systems (diesel and gas), was in normal condition during the drive and even stopped to refuel. Police initially questioned the owner before towing the vehicle away for further investigation into the actual cause of the fire.
