Thailand Presents Climate Action Plan at UN Forum
Thailand presented its climate action plan at a UN forum in Bangkok, committing to greenhouse gas reduction and a Net Zero 2050 target through balanced economic and environmental development.
On June 30, 2026, Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin tasked advisor Darika Srangethaeo with presenting Thailand's position on climate change at the ministerial-level segment of the 7th Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The event brought together more than 300 international organization leaders, ministerial representatives, and government officials at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok.
Darika outlined Thailand's commitment to addressing climate change through greenhouse gas reduction and adaptation to climate impacts, while building a stable and sustainable economy and society. She emphasized Thailand's approach of balancing economic, social, and environmental development through public participation and multilateral cooperation at the UN level to mitigate emerging global crises. She also highlighted the government's serious and continued focus on achieving Net Zero 2050 through economically supportive growth.
The conference represents an important opportunity for Thailand to demonstrate its international commitment to translating global climate and sustainable development pledges into concrete action. Thailand aims to advance sustainable development pathways beyond 2030 toward a future where society is resilient to environmental challenges, the economy grows robustly, and the nation is prepared to manage change effectively.
