Suspect Arrested in Beating of 61-Year-Old Man
A 32-year-old man was arrested in Trat province after allegedly beating a 61-year-old victim with a wooden club and abandoning him at a durian orchard, though he refuses to reveal the victim's location.
Police in Khao Saming district have arrested a 32-year-old man identified as Wittawat, or "Moss," in connection with the brutal assault and disappearance of a 61-year-old man named Boonyu. According to reports, Moss attacked Boonyu with a wooden club until the victim was severely injured and unconscious, then placed him on a pickup truck and drove him to a durian orchard before vanishing without a trace. The incident occurred on Soi Nakhaprasoet in Khao Saming district, Trat province.
On July 1, 2025, Khao Saming police took Moss into custody and transported him for questioning at a police station, specifically demanding information about where he left Boonyu's body. Despite over an hour of interrogation, Moss refused to cooperate, insisting that Boonyu had jumped out of the truck and fled on his own. He also refused to reveal where the pickup truck was abandoned. Police even brought his mother and acquaintances to try persuading him, but he remained uncooperative throughout the questioning.
At 12:10 AM, Chukkiat Phukabjploi, the provincial police commander for Trat, ordered an expanded search operation of the durian plantation within a 500-meter radius. The search, conducted jointly with local rescue teams, proved difficult due to ongoing rain and darkness at the scene. After more than an hour of searching, authorities had found no trace of the victim.
